Fairy princess! I LOVE being a fairy princess! I have a floor-length glittery pink ball gown, sparkly wings with fluffy edges, a wand, silver shoes, and a fake diamond tiara. Accessories may vary, but that's the foundation. I LOVE my costume!
Two other things I wanted to be for Halloween but can't manage are Kleptobot and Clementine. My damned hair isn't long enough for the latter, and I *still* don't have my Klepto chest-portal T-shirt.
I was once a Christmas tree. Mom sewed branches from a dead artificial fir to a long green coat, and I attached decorations at will.
I was a parrot once, too. It got EFFING COLD in the Gaspé by Halloween, so my costume was based around a cheery green snowsuit. I had a toucan beak from a Happy Meal, and Mom did my face paint. I liked that one.
I've been a black cat many a time. Black leggings, black shirt, white gloves, face paint, and homemade cat ears attached to a plastic hairband. Oh, and a tail. Black tights double layered over a bent coat hanger frame.
When I was ten, I was a paper bag robot. I used to decorate paper grocery bags for fun all the time anyway, so I used a robotic one for my body and made a robot head out of a box.
Thinking back to my childhood Halloweens, I was nearly always a princess, a fairy, a fairy princess, or an angel. I'd say "I was such a girl," except that the only reason I wasn't Donatello for many years running was Mom's adamant refusal to let me dress up as someone so violent. (TMNT, anyone?) She let my brother dress up as Zorro....
