so nobody can say they weren't informed. wink.gif

U2 really needs to have a sit down with Triumph, no?

Supposedly they're going to play a few songs...I'm wondering what they'll do. "City Of Blinding Lights" is the latest single, but the visuals on their stage show are such a part of the song by now that I'm not sure they'll do it.

Should be interesting...can't wait. smile.gif
Brookd
Triumph? why, so they can learn to play Fight the Good Fight and A World of Fantasy??

i really enjoyed seeing the boys on conan. they all seemed to have a lot of fun.

Having watched a few U2 interviews over the years, the full-band interview seemed a bit awkward and forced, although, in a rarely seen event, the photoshopped pics did get Larry Mullen to smile a couple of times.

The Bono interview was good, although after watching NBC hack off the last half of "Vertigo," I kinda wished Bono had cut his speeches a couple minutes short. He seemed in great voice during the performances though, and the show marked the first North American performance of "Original Of The Species" with Edge on guitar. (on tour, U2 plays a more stripped down arrangement with Edge on piano)

And while Triumph was nowhere to be found, the Year 2000 segment was pretty funny.

Their story was/is deeply disturbing and tragic. As well as the other hatemongers covered. But it was almost the same story that ABC reported in October '05. I was hoping for some new information, although I don't think there is anything wrong with covering the same story more than once for those that didn't see it before. I just think if there is a "follow-up", we should have new information. Otherwise, just make it a "rebroadcast".

LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN, CBS

Mon 12/18: Rodrigo y Gabriella

Check them out ~ Giving their music as a Christmas gift this year (and getting one for me too!)

They're 2 guitarists from South America who wound up in Ireland playing in pubs there and I think were discovered there. They have quite a storied musical background.

Rodrigo y Gabriella

"Rodrigo (Sanchez) and Gabriela (Quintero) are two fast-fingered, Dublin-based, Mexicans with a unique sound created on acoustic guitars. Their music is difficult to define, straddling both world and rock, and often imbued with timeless Hispano – classical influences. The fire in it comes from their life-long passion for metal music. This spring, "Rodrigo y Gabriela," beat both the Arctic Monkeys AND Johnny Cash to number one in the Irish charts.

Rodrigo is a deft finger-picker who can move from raging speed to sensual soul in the space of a fret, while Gabriela employs fast, rhythmic techniques. Her percussionist's thrashing of strings and drumming of the instrument's body inevitably raises comparisons with flamenco – which they acknowledge as an influence but swerve as a pigeonhole. The duo's repertoire flies beyond familiar Latin folk guitarists' styles because of the metal connection: their reworkings of Led Zep's "Stairway to Heaven" and Metallica's "Orion" are musts, and the presence, on "Ixtapa", of the fiery Hungarian gypsy violinist, Roby Lakatos, is inspirational. "
