I just bought a big-arse, 50" LCD Sony TV and a Bose 3-2-1 surround sound system... I am SO stoked (I haven't had a TV, stereo or cable in 2+ years). I went LCD since plasma life is so short in comparison, and I went with the Bose so I won't have to run cables all over the house for 5 speakers, since Bose does it with 2 + a sub-woofer (PLUS it's a Bose smile.gif ).

Got it yesterday. Tonight: rent a DVD where a LOT of stuff blows up REALLY LOUDLY.

What do you folks watch/listen on?

Congrats! biggrin.gif

I'm still watching my old Sony direct view (which I love!) with my Harmon Kardon system--except I haven't replaced the 250 watt sub that I blew last year!

In the bedroom, we have a Sony Dream Macchine which is ideal!

gawd, my home stereo system is so salvation army-esque...

tv is a 4 year old 27" sharp (just a regular tv, no fancy flat screen, etc) connected to:
the LD ( :: snort :: ) opening on the pioneer receiver, going to:
2 10" MTX Blue Thunder speakers (mounted in the coolest old thingymabobs that were found under my house left a long ago tenant who didn't want to keep 'em) placed in the front corners of the living room and:
2 KLH small back speakers mounted up in the corners behind me.

i have no EQ and no bass.
just the 4 speakers.
salvation army-esque or not, i wub.gif my sound system.

All I have is this. And I love it!

*ahem*

I like to do my watchin' on a 27 inch KTV. I like to think it stands for KylieTelevision. Don't be jealous. Michelle hooked it all up... so I have no clue about that stuff.
It was free, along with the DVD player(thanks guys from school) and the VCR(thanks HometownboyDave).
I have a small television/vcr combo in my bedroom... the screen is about *this* big. (thanks mom)

I plan on getting a new DVD player sometime soon... b/c blowing into disc opener thing isn't really my idea of fun.

edited to add: I should also note that the volume cannot be turned up or down from the remote control. so, someone has to play the role of "volume bitch". Haha.

Most of my TV viewing is done in a window on the 19" LCD monitor hooked up to my PC, which has a tuner card and a cable box hooked up to it, and usually while I'm doing something else on the computer. The sound is supplied by an M-Audio Revolution soundcard and Creative 3-piece speaker system. Lately I've been recording The Simpsons to my hard drive on Sunday night so I can watch The West Wing with my wife, who is a long-time WW addict.

We have a Sony 27" flat screen TV in the family room hooked up to a Yamaha stereo receiver with 2 Radio Shack bookshelf speakers + Cambridge Soundworks 10" subwoofer that I also watch occasionally, and a 19" Panasonic with built-in speakers in our bedroom. When we want to do some serious movie or sports watching, however, we just crash our oldest son's room. He has a Samsung 52" monster LCD screen, a Denon 200-watt surround-sound amp, a 5 or 6-speaker Cambridge Soundworks system, and his own HDTV cable connection. Do up a little popcorn and turn off the lights, and it's better than the local Cineplex.

i have a 27 inch picture in picture (which i never use) zenith that i bought about 5 years ago at a grocery store believe it or not. i saved $100 with my Dillon's Plus card.

what i do love about my t.v. set up is the digital cable. i like being able to flip through the t.v. guide channel.

a spiffy 36" toshiba monitor, a toshiba dvd/vcr combo player, and an onkyo 65w per channel surround sound/dts/prologic receiver w/bose 301's in the front and a nice set of jbl bookshelf speakers in the rear. great picture and sounds sweet. i love it.

For someone who knows a lot about television (production and engineering) I have to say that all I have is a cheap 19 incher and a hand me down VCR. One of these days, I should get a DVD player that isn't attached to a computer.

I've spent the past oh, 6 weekends and few random after work days painting every room in my house 'cept the kitchen. I'll finally be done with said rooms tomorrow. I am seriously SO excited. Due to the fact that I did all this work for free and didn't charge myself labor I decided to pay/reward myself by upgrading my front speakers.

As of last night, these...

are now these...

JBL E 60's, baby.

I hooked up the right one, powered everything back up, tossed in Films For Radio (Karin wailing with TWCW was a hands down winner as the first sound to come out of those bad boys), had sound come out of the new one first - my breath caught, the difference was palpable - turned it to the older Left speaker, seriously couldn't comprehend the sound difference, then almost cried cause it was happening IN MY HOUSE!! Hooked up the Left one and started FFR from the beginning. Folks (I'm honestly not intending to be crude with this...) I almost creamed my pants.... it was that overwhelmingly sense-beautiful. I am in sound system heaven right now. I almost went with the E80's but I don't think my neighbors would have liked that as these puppies caused a rattlin' in the floorboards as it is, they woulda had more *BAM* than I woulda used. And if I thought my music sounded amazing...? Holy crapola what it did for watching DVD's... Just, omg. Omg. I know Troy is hugely proud of me right now... *beaming*
