I frolic with alzheimer's patients (i get paid for this!) and so by this time of the day I usually have only enough energy to blink and/or make suprised facial expressions out the window. I just thought I would say hello and I look forward to talking, er typing, with someone someday somehow somewhere.

I worked with alzheimer's patients once upon a time too. I know how you feel at the end of the day. Glad you've found your way to the Orchard.

Ok, you guys all get big shiny things that purr and shoot gold out of their orifices. I can see how one could addicted to this forum thing, I haven't gotten a lot of friendly welcomes lately. Or, I guess I should rephrase that, I haven't gotten a love of friendly welcomes like that from people that can remember my existence after five minutes of being apart.
I am not sure if there is somewhere to post a short bio on myself as I am overwhelmingly ignorant about this site so I'll just post one here.
I am a bit of a nomad and right now am living in the eyeball of Iowa. (Look at Iowa on a map, picture where you would put an eye, and then just put your mental image of me somewhere close to the pupil)
I am a college grad in a semi-career that is only peripherally related to my major (theology), but I suppose that major is one that lends itself to peripheral occupations, unless you are a theologian or a Bible preaching circus clown.
I like lots of things. I like good music (hence OTR) and, much to critical chagrin, like 'bad' music as well (hence my over emotional impromptu dance routines to both of the Simpson sisters).
I have a tendency to become hopelessly worthless in the practical duties of day to day living if I read a well written line of prose, poetry etc. A good sentence can knock me into a pleasant walking coma for at least a week, and I for some reason I take great pleasure in reading the dictionary (the home of sentences unbound, grammatical chastity that book is).
I am not very fond of lion prides taking down the helpless baby elephants for a meal, but that may be a passing hatred because it was just born a few moments ago thanks to the discovery channel. It probably won't become a life quest of mine to save crippled baby elephants from the great cat of Africa. But you never know, rum makes you do really stupid things.
I am going to venture that this site is populated by literature lovers so in order capitalize on the sense of community that is created by shared lusts I will tell you some of my favorite authors
Annie Dillard
Fred Buechner
Alan Patton
G.K Chesterton
Graham Greene
Jack Kerouac (but only every now and then)
Pablo Neruda
Kathleen Norris
Dostoyevsky
Thomas Merton
Both of the Simpson sisters
Etc.
Ok, this is getting long. I feel like I should put in a OtR story. So here goes, a little teaser, but true,
I went to their house. Yeah, that's right. Their house. (And hung with Mr. Detweiler on the porch. It was a little stalker-ish.)
