Seems like as good a place as any to put all this...
Thanks to those of you who have reached out to me these last few crazy months. And to those who thought about it.
More importantly, peace to Linford and his family in the recent passing of his father.
For those who want the long story...
Karen and the girls are wonderful. Karen is a saint for putting up with me. I have a special place in heaven waiting for putting up with the five of them. Lindsay has been able to come home more than we expected and loves her job in the army. Jen is trying to find her way in life and is considering moving to VA to live with Lindsay. Mary and Rachael are trying to "survive" the Plymouth-Canton school K-12 sentence.
In December things went to DEFCON 5+ for our family. Business went away, almost lost the house, "blah, blah, blah." Was fortunate enough to get a job in mid-December. Doesn't pay squat, but it stopped the bleeding. I'm very grateful. As the laws of irony would dictate, business picked up dramatically upon my employment. I'm also very grateful for that. Currently I'm working during the day at the J-O-B and nights and weekends with the business. When I'm not, I'm playing music (see next paragraph). Life is stabilizing and, perhaps, getting a bit better. I'm cautiously optimistic about the future.
In October, after doing a year and a half of solo coffee house gigs, I was blessed by the birth (not THAT kind) of a band, Arlington Station. We're a three piece outfit that plays folk, country and some originals. Our first show was three songs at a local folk society open mic show in November. Last friday we played our first full show to a packed coffee house in town. It was seriously one of the highlights of my life. Dramatic? Maybe, but true. Those people that came made it amazing. I have no idea where this is heading, but a friend of ours printed shirts for us to sell (proceeds going to a local homeless shelter) and it says "Arlington Station 2008 World Tour" and ends with dates in "Europe, Tokyo, Japan, Australia, Netherlands, Brazil.. etc". He must know something we don't! ;o) Over the Rhine may have the best fans in the world, but it feels like we're a close second.
Hoping all of you and your families are doing well. I miss you. Well, everyone but Kylie.
