I did a search here after watching this movie last night and found that all the comments about this movie were negative.
I may stand alone, but I thought this movie was well done and very thought provoking.
I guess if you were not getting into the heads of the characters and the situation, it must have been very boring. But I found it quite disturbing.
I even dreamt about it.
It made me aware of how small and defenseless we can be in a situation where one is lost and pitted against nature.
Also, my son is a certified SCUBA diver and I guess I related.
I find Space, the Desert and the Ocean very desolate, isolating and frightening.
I thought the movie pointed out that isolation and helplessness very well.
The movie must have been produced for a very small amount of money...the bulk of the movie was just two people bobbing in the ocean.
But somehow the terror of their situation still disturbs me. I also thought the performances by the two unknown actors was very convincing.

I guess I am the only person who liked Open Water. closedeyes.gif

If you've never seen Gerry - it's the same type of thing...but done with a much better "indie" feel. It's about Matt Damon and Casey Affleck getting lost in the desert. Just the two of them wandering aimlessly through all sorts of terrain. It's really slow going, but I enjoyed it a lot. Reminded me a lot of Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett.

Thanks for the reco Amanda. I added to my BB.com queue. It mentions that the dialog is mostly improvised...cool.
And I love Matt Damon.
Whle on the BB.com site, they recommended Dead Calm for the same style movie. I have seen that and liked it. Nicole Kidman in a really early role for her...lost at sea, but this time in a boat.
I guess I try to compare the coping mechanisms of these victims with what I think I would do in the same situation.
