After ten years of living in the south, I am returning to the north, actually right to the street that I grew up on (Hopkins Ave.) and the street that Karin and Linford just vacated. The Grey Ghost is just across the street from my Family home where I was actually taken home from the hospital!
My father, now living alone after my mother passed three years ago and needs some company (he used to wave to K and L as they walked the dogs). I plan to get my masters and enjoy being back in my home town.
I have had the opportunity to catch OTR three times here in North Florida (2 times in St. Augustine where I currently live, and 1 in Jacksonville, this past spring) I hoping to catch them at the end of the month at Coney!
SO my question to you kind folks , where to hang out? I have already been to Northside Tavern and have a few favorite haunts, but wanted to get some ideas about what is going on in Cincy, keeping in mind I have been back at least 1 time a year since then.
Thanks!

You might want to go to
Cincinnati Advance and sign up for their newsletter/ After 5 Walks. I've never actually made it to the walk, but they go to neat locally owned places every Thurs. night. I often visit the places they suggest at a later date. Super neat places!:)
Welcome Back!

Margarita, that looks like a AWESOME site!
Edgar, I usually go to a varied number of wacky events. Let us know what you are all interested in... Did you like Northside Tavern?
Some of my favorites:
Sunday night at Comet - bluegrass night, live on air, jam packed almost every week. Only goes 'til 10 so it's a great night out. I normally am not a bluegrass fan but the venue mixed with the people is killer
Random weird bars - the randomer, the weirder, the better
Museums galore - even the big ones, the Art Institute, Contemporary Arts Center, and newly redone Taft Museum all kick. Even the Art Institute has One World Wednesdays starting again in September, once a month (1st Friday of each month) that are really nice. CAC openings and third Fridays of the month offer something fun there too.
Horse tracks - but they've been here Since (before) U Been Gone, yeah yeah.
Jacobs on Fridays is open 'til 4 and is more fun than it should be. Lots of weird 80s music.
It seems like I've been out of town for the whole summer, I'm forgetting a lot... Bar help of any type, I can usually help.

Thanks to both of you, I know some of those places mentioned, Comet, and yes I loved the Northside Tavern, lots of great folks working and playing (music) there, and all the options you mentioned sound cool like the bluegrass, I like all kinds of music.
I used to work as a volunteer at the CAC years ago before the new building was completed, so I am looking forward to being back and seeing the new building.
Margarita, thanks for the site, I will use this site to entice my friends to come up and visit.
Thanks again, looing forward to seeing some more suggestions.

I don't know of many cool things to do around here (I'm more of a stay-at-home kind of girl most of the time), but you live a third of a mile from me! I am on Slane.
I walked down Hopkins last night and I Just Knew when I saw the Grey Ghost. I felt like I should take my shoes off standing on the holy ground where so many beautiful songs were born.
I have heard the Daily Grind is good, but I haven't been there yet!
And that must feel amazing, coming back to where you started from. I have similar fantasies of buying back our first house someday and raising my kids there. I know, though, that it probably wouldn't be at all the same.
