I am a HUGE Mary-Louise Parker fan, and so far I am enjoying this show ... even as I am in mourning over the demise of some longtime favorites (NYPD Blue and Judging Amy) and some recently adopted can't-do-withouts (Queer as Folk and Six Feet Under).

BTW, Trudes: How is Rescue Me going this season? I meant to tune in and missed the season opener and now I haven't seen it, at all!

(Nip/Tuck starts Sept. 20 or something like that!)

I am loving weed...uh, 'Weeds' more with each episode. The casting is perfect and the two women stars have been favs of mine for a long time. Some of the humor is so subtle but hilarious when you catch it. It's like an R rated 'Desperate Housewives' or 'Arrested Development' in a way. I love how the premium channels let the shows be real.

Di, I haven't watched 'Rescue Me' this season or 'The L Word'....two good shows that were sacreficed because there is so much TV, too little time.
I enjoyed the finale of Six Feet Under, but have a few minor issues with the hasty wrap-up. They had so long to prepare...some of the story lines seemed to end really abruptly. But then I am putting the finale under a microscope because it was like a child o' mine. Yes I grieve...and I thought the ending when the years go by and we found out the fates of all the main characters was excellent. Good for Claire...101!.

Ok, I just hijacked my own thread.

I really did not care for The L Word this past season, so you really weren't missing much. A couple of good moments, but other than that: Not NEARLY as good as Queer as Folk, in my opinion, or other "ensemble"-style TV dramas.

As for the wrap-up on Six Feet: Yeah, it did seem like everything turned out a little too surprisingly OK for everyone, considering ... well, 'cept for poor Keith! ... but, in all fairness, it did give a little better "closure" than I've seen some series do.

Weeds is cool! I about dropped my teeth -- and they're not even dentures! -- during the scene between Mary-L.P. and Celia, discussing sex in front of the stairs!

LITTLE BOXES

Words and music by Malvina Reynolds

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same,
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

And the people in the houses
All went to the university
Where they were put in boxes
And they came out all the same
And there's doctors and lawyers
And business executives
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

And they all play on the golf course
And drink their martinis dry
And they all have pretty children
And the children go to school,
And the children go to summer camp
And then to the university
Where they are put in boxes
And they come out all the same.

And the boys go into business
And marry and raise a family
In boxes made of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same,
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

They had a Weeds marathon on last night; from 1st episode on. I love the characters and laughed out loud many times!! OMG ... the sweet lady who was the object of Tom Hank's desire in "Big" ... what an actress! I'm so impressed! I love the guilty snickers this series brings to me. (Mmmmmmm, Snickers!!)

Dang ... I forgot that I have season 1 somewhere just waiting to be watched. Trudes it was because of this thread that I bought it.

I'm finally caught up....not really getting into this current season so much. I think the thing I liked about the show was the satire of upper class suburban life and how fake it all really is (it reminded me a lot of the super-rich part of Grosse Pointe near where I grew up), and now they've kind of 'rebooted' the show and I really miss that element of it. I'm definitely sticking it out, but i'm not sure where they're going with all this.
Trudes
Steve...I agree. This season is different. Nancy is not as likeable or innocent and Celia seems rather dumb compared to previous seasons.
The theme song 'Little Boxes' doesn't seem to fit in the current situation.
It's lost its focus.
Still watching though. dry.gif

They got rid of "Little Boxes" after the first episode.

And it's weird...Nancy seemed reluctant during the entire first 3 seasons to be doing what she was doing...only doing it to support her family because she had to. All of a sudden she seems completely remorseless about it and ready to dive head-first into it, which is a weird transition for me.
WalrusOct9
ZOMG....end of this week's episodes = EFFING CREEPY.
