This dude makes David Blaine look like an amatuer ... it's on Wednesday nights on A&E. Sometimes it's a little drawn out, but it's addicting. I'm hooked!

yep... I dig 'em, too... but haven't seen his A&E stuff... I've seen his 4 DVDs and been a fan of the music side of his magic since 1997 (or '98?)...
my thread about Criss Angel
on a too-short break from a grueling 8 hour CPA class...

Aha ... thanks for linking me to your post. Criss Angel is new to me; I hadn't heard of him until this new A&E series started up, but I'm hooked. I think he'll be around for a long, loooong time. Unlike Blaine, he has such stage presence (and he's so nice to look at ... slurp!). He's like the Copperfield of the new generation.
Peace & hope,
Joyce

His
first record (
System 1 aka
Musical Conjurings from the World of Illusion) is the best of the four... because it's the only one that was a major collaboration between Criss and
Celldweller (
aka Klayton Scott, aka Scott Albert, aka Brainchild, aka Circle of Dust). The other CD's are a bit derivative of the first with Celldweller's influence on them fading out...
I do like Criss Angel, though.... yes... it's good to see a new influx of fans with the TV dealio...

I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cringe when I saw Debbie Gibson as one of the handful of people on that seance/haunted hotel episode.

haha... haven't seen that episode yet. Criss Angel (even just looking at his hairstyle and hearing the way he talks) is totally stuck in the late 80s/early 90s. I mean, he had Nuno Bettencourt (from Extreme) on his music video. I love Nuno Bettencourt (his one of my top 3 or 4 "musical heros/rock gods"), but Criss Angel's definitely got his style in a timewarp.
His mag--... um... illusions are still quite captivating.

so... how does he do those tricks? (they are tricks, aren't they?)
when I watch him or Blaine, I can't help but think that some of that is not what the people in person are seeing (like levitating). I don't know. I'd need to see him in person (or hear from someone who has).
btw, is that first CD still available somewhere? I always meant to pick that up (Circle fan that I was).

I
think it's still available on
http://crissangel.com. I don't know, though... hell, I got it
9 years ago... The first in the trilogy is the only one really worth getting.
Celldweller/Circle of Dust's impact on #2 and 3 is still there, but mainly in a rehashed format.
Criss Angel's
System 1 in the Trilogy (originally called
Angel Dust's
Musical Conjurings from the World of Illusion) was really a Celldweller/COD release with Criss Angel's voice and lyrics.
I totally recommend it (esp. if you're already a Cell/COD fan).
As for
how Criss does the illusions... I've got some DVD of his that explains some of the tricks (specifically the floating-up/levitation). It's wicked cool and tricky... and I can't tell you.

I've caught a few episodes. Yes, he is yummy to look at in a 'bad boy' sort of way. His illusions are very good, but I forget when he's on.

I haven't actually watched any episodes because the teasers for the episodes are so annoying. I guess I'll look into it after reading this.
