Well, good morning everyone...thought it was time to add my little bio...

My name is Molly and yes, I live in the great white north known as West Michigan where it is currently snowing huge white flakes. Oh well, at least it's covering up all the doggie bombs in my backyard! unsure.gif

I was introduced to OtR on a blind date with the wonderful man who is now my husband of almost 7 years!

For the last two years I have been a freelance writer, editor and project manager out of my little home office. Boy do I love it!!! laugh.gif The corporate world just wasn't for me!

I have two "practice children" right now, Gideon the yellow lab/white shepherd and Phoebe the morbidly obese tabby cat! (Their pictures are posted in the pets thread!)

My first OtR show was Taylor University, Upland, IN, September 1994. I've been in love ever since.

Any other freezing Michiganders lurking around? Perhaps we can pray for spring together!

Have a lovely day wherever you are!

Welcome!
Sounds like Western Michigan weather is like my friends' description of Wyoming's seasons: Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter, and August.

It's great to have you aboard. It always surprises me how many people have been OTR fans for a decade or more.

Hey Molly!
I was born and raised in Michigan (central, in a teensy town called Parma, just outside of Jackson, hour north of the Indiana border--hmm, I just realized how much I rely on my "hand map" to show people where that is . . .). I live in California now, but I go back whenever I can to see family. I sure don't miss those winters, though. You live in the west, you said--anywhere near Lake Michigan? I love that lake!
Very cool that you're a freelance writer/editor. Hope I can do that someday.
Anyway, welcome, and nice to meet a fellow Michigander (although I really hate that term--why not Michiganian, I ask you?)

I definitely sympathize with that Wyoming resident! It's like my father-in-law once said about living in Minnesota:

"We had a nice summer here this year. We had a picnic that day."

We live in Grand Rapids which is about 40 miles from Lake Michigan...just close enough to get all that lovely lake effect snow. But, I have to admit, summer is pretty glorious here!

Oh well...my dog thinks snow is the best thing in the world. He loves to walk in it, roll in it, burrow his head through it and eat it. At least he's happy! biggrin.gif

That's incredible. I live in Canada, typically derided by Southern Americans as the land of ice and snow, and today the weather is beautiful. Most of the snow has melted, and it's been entirely possible to go for an hour-long walk while mittenless without developing frostbite for the past week or two now. It's dog poop season. Happy happy!

Welcome to the boards!

I think that's the worst thing about March and April here...you can have one day that is bright, sunny and pushing 60 and the next day you have a blizzard. It's the teasing that drives us crazy!!!

Our abrupt spring snowfalls thus far have been pretty light. I'm crossing my fingers for it to stay that way. If not, I will become very unhappy.

I suppose what bothers me more would be the sudden thaws in the middle of winter. It will snow, we will shovel, we will build fantastic snow creations - and then the next day the lawn's a soggy, naked mess. I'm glad that city apartment life eliminates the need to clear the driveway!

We are from Michigan (for now). We moved to Livonia from Denver CO about 1.5 yrs ago. It's sunny 300 days a year in Denver. Here we get the other 65. Though today is wonderful.

I believe that we were at that show also in '94.

I'm in GR too. I'm a Calvin Student, so this is no surprise. I grew up in W. MI too though, so I'm used to the weather as one ever gets....

Hi, Bethany! We really like living near to Calvin...great shows and stuff to do! We live between Burton and Plymouth streets right near East GR so we're just down the street from Calvin. Maybe we can meet face to face at a show sometime! smile.gif
