Just wondering...
I'm allergic to dairy & eggs and occasionally wheat and am looking for some good recipe sites/recipes. Am I alone or are there other's out there....?

i don't have any allergies but my sister's husband is allergic to MSG so whenever we are sharing a meal it becomes a very complicated thing. i've searched online for good recipe sites for her and really have never found any good ones. but, if anyone knows of any i'd love to see them because their diet consists of a very small range of foods as far as i can tell.

Technically, you can't be allergic to MSG per se. It has something to do with making neurons fire in your brain, but cannot, chemically, be subject to allergies. So I've heard ....
Anyway, mushrooms can kill me. Really. Which is okay, because I wasn't planning on eating stuff that grows from poo. I even get ill if I inhale the spores.

Just so ya know, people with egg or soybean allergies should not have propofol...an anesthetic agent used for sedation. (endoscopies, etc.)

see, that's what i thought too. sometimes i think they just havnt really figured out whats wrong with him but he did have to go to the emergency room twice so i think they are just sticking with what they have found works. it's just sad because i think that its made them fall into a really unhealthy way of eating.

Epicurious.com has on their recipe search a function that lets you filter out recipes with eggs and dairy. Not sure if it does or can include wheat or gluten.

Well, it's a chemical that makes your neurons fire at an accellerated rate ... that in itself is pretty effed up, IMHO. I was just going to get some chinese food too. Oh well.

Apparently this is true:
QUOTE
MSG "tricks" your brain into thinking the food you are eating tastes good. Manufacturers can use inferior ingredients and thus make the product seem tastier. Inferior products and higher profits prevail at the expense of consumer health. MSG intolerance is not an allergic reaction, but a powerful drug reaction.

You must've done something terrible in a former life, Bill.
And you think your body's rejecting foods right now? At your age, you should worry about it rejecting
oxygen!
Hee.

My pleasure!

I hadn't heard about an MSG allergy before, so when I saw what Fred posted I had to research it. This info is also ultimately helpful to me since I am investigating how to go about changing my diet in light of the fact that I have recently been diagnosed pre-diabetic. I had recently started to have an inkling that certain food processing might account for some of the problems I have, like fatigue, etc.
I'm two knots away from the ship that sails to holistic health. You guys won't make fun of me if that happens, right? I swear I won't start wearing robes or put flowers in my hair.

I'm alergic to jalapeno peppers. I eat them anyway! Some things in life are worth a swollen throat.
