Watched this one night before last. Awesome film. Sigourney Weaver was great as usual as was Emile Hersh who plays her son, Tim. Jeff Daniels was also quite good. Trudes, I thought of you as I viewed this film and think it is one that you will enjoy as well.

Thanks for the recommendation, Cher. I've added it my queue...in fact I put it next to arrive.

On my list too now, thanks Cher.

I'm a *huge* Sigourney Weaver fan... only she could do roles like Death and the Maiden and make me believe it, I'm convinced.

Makes ya wonder, doesn't it? This movie looks great, and I've never even heard of it. How do these get no press?

Yeah, I don't get how there's so little press about these films. I picked it up on recommendation from one of the guys who works at Family Video. He's yet to steer me wrong with his suggestions.

I was reminded of The Ice Storm an earlier Sigourney film that dealt with a disfunctional family as well. If you've seen it and liked it, then you're sure to enjoy this one. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it [Storm] as well.

Just saw it.
Loved it.
Why am I drawn to movies about dysfuncional lives/families? I think it helps me feel like mine isn't the only one....we're all broken in some way.
What an intricate and touching story.
I didn't totally buy that all was well in the end. I think there was still a huge mountain to climb, but at least they were facing it and attempting to deal with it by the end of the story.
So complicated...lots of surprises.
Anyone else see this and wish to discuss?
Emile Hersh was excellent.
Sigorney Weaver is outstanding. I can't believe I hadn't heard of this film before.

Thanks for the recommendation, Cher.

I think it's a bit like the tabloid talk shows - people LOVE to see that their lives maybe aren't as bad as all that. That there are others out there just a little bit worse off.

I'd be interested in discussing it some time as well.

Glad you enjoyed it, Trudes.
