...till Karin's writings section is no longer under re-construction?
michelle
Yo, get this...

I noticed her writings section was down a few weeks before the October '04 Canal Steet shows, right?
Wondered about that, but not too hard, right?
Between songs at one of those October show nights Karin was talking about meeting a cool dude at that New Mexico (I think this is the one...) writer's workshop/conference thing, that she and Linford attended some cool workshops, talks, etc, right?
Then she says something along the lines of (don't quote me), "I had no idea how bad a writer I was till then."

*dramatic pause*

Yeah... that was my reaction too. Then I remembered all her writings being taken down.

I, for one (well, two, counting Brook), would LOVE to see her stuff back up as well.

Karin we love your writing. You never have to apologize for the smell of roses. wink.gif

I have to add a "hear, hear" to this one.

Karin, one of the most beautiful things about your voice is the words you sing. I loved reading your poems. They, along with Linford's, have often served as little beacons to me; comforting me, reminding me that even though I may not know anyone personally who has a mental landscape much like mine, they're out there somewhere...

If the reason you took your poetry off the page is because someone convinced you that your written voice was amatuerish, maybe you could reconsider?

Somebody (I'm not sure who it was, but they must have been smart) once said that we should not be called human 'beings' but rather human 'becomings.' If you can ever look back on a thing you do well and say, "There, I did well, and I can do no better," then the thing is dead in your heart, because it is no longer growing; like a flower plucked to capture its beauty.

Anybody who would pass judgement on your work would have to show a lot of proof why they had the right to do so. You have a pretty big (and quite literary) fan base that would suggest otherwise, girl!

pulled from dictionary.com:

am·a·teur n.

1. A person who engages in an art, science, study, or athletic activity as a pastime rather than as a profession.

and:

pro·fes·sion·al adj.

1. Of, relating to, engaged in, or suitable for a profession: lawyers, doctors, and other professional people.
2. Conforming to the standards of a profession: professional behavior.

one of the things i love best about your music and writing is its incredible lack of "professionalism", or more specifically the lack of conformation to the standards... i.e. add a squeeze of wist, and a drop of sorrow... voila! the art-o-matic has done it again!

art, true art, and nothing but the art, please... the beautiful science and study of it, done for the pleasure and need of releasing the light that burns within you.

stick to amateur, it's what makes you what you are.
