My dad sent me this link to the greatest grilled cheese sandwich in america contest. I just now got the chance to start checking it out and OMG! The grand prize winner is right up my alley! There are lots of fabulously fun grilled cheese ideas! You must check it out! The grilled fondue (the winner in the gourmet section) truly looks like heaven.

There was this guy who about 7-8 years ago, worked at the coffee shop that I grew up in, and he made the best grilled cheeses. This is what he did:

Two thick cut slices of bread (usually he would use wither rosemary bread or seasame bread, depending on what was on hand that day) with provalone and chedder cheese on the inside.

On the outside butter it generously and then sift cinnamon sugar over both the buttered sides generously and grill.

It was amazing. I still make it like this myself sometimes.

Ian was also convinced me to start eating my homefries with ketchup and maple syrup mixed together, which is also surprisingly, really good.

I made the winning one (carribean grilled cheese) on houseboat this weekend. Rave reviews and a tasty sammich. And I didn't vary one bit from the recipe... I was worried with thick bread and only one "layer" of Swiss it wouldn't be enough, but with the salsa it softens the bread and makes it seem even cheesier than it is. I hate mustard in any form too, but the same way - it blended all together fantastically.

A+ and I will make it again.

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with grilled cheese sandwiches, but when I read it I was reminded of when I was eating sugars I used to love to top a salad with both Ranch and French dressing. A right yummy combo!
