i saw the movie palindromes this weekend. i was visiting my cousin in rochester and my cousin's co-worker's daughter (got that?) was one of the film's editors. this editor was in town for a hometown screening, and this editor's mom paid for everyone to be there. smile.gif (her friends and co-workers etc.)

wow.

what a disturbing movie. has anyone else seen it, read about it, have thoughts about it?

the main character is played by 7 different actors, and it centers around abortion (an off-topic here, i know). the movie's outlook on life isn't so optimistic... that we don't change and -- backwards or forwards -- we are who we are. it didn't paint pro-lifers or pro-choicers in a very positive light.

i really liked the changing/rotating character of aviva. (i thought it'd be cool if everyone were always changing, but that would make a terribly confusing mess!)

anyway... anyone else see it?

Have you seen any of Solondz' other films? I've been waiting for this one. Unfortunately, I'll have to drive somewhere to see it as it will not play here. We have an 8-plex Kerasotes here with one screen supposedly for indie/art films, but I've yet to see one play here (other than Fahrenheit 411).

Anyway, I LOVE Solondz' work and suggest that you see Welcome To the Dollhouse and Happiness if you liked this one. I haven't seen Storytelling yet.

no, i haven't seen any of his other work. the editor was saying this fits right in line with his other work. in other words: a bleak outlook on life. and i guess one character from solondz' last film surfaces in this one, and "dawn weiner" is discussed. but i only understood that from reading reviews after the fact.
d.
i havent seen this yet. i will when it hits the rep cinema.
im very curious about it.
