Full Version: Serenity Movie Trailer (aka the "FIREFLY" movie)

OK... Serenity is scheduled to hit the silver screens on September 30, 2005. It is a movie that continues the story of the brilliant, but cancelled by Fox after 13 episodes, TV show Firefly (developed by Joss Whedon).

Joss Whedon is known for Toy Story (he wrote the 1st one), Aliens 4 (written by), Titan AE (written by), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (movie and TV show), Angel (TV show), and his next project is an update to Wonder Woman... I'd probably rank Firefly as one of his best works.

Today at 4pm (PST or EST, I don't know), the trailer for the Serenity movie hits our PCs...

Joss said it will be chock full of bits of spoilers for those in the know, just FYI!

Now, here's a word of warning: this trailer ain't shy. If you're looking to live totally spoiler-free, know that there's plenty of key dialogue and images running through this bad boy. It's pretty tasty, though, and it doesn't give everything away. But close scrutiny will definitely learn you much of what's to come. (Anakin TOTALLY goes evil.) It's a nice piece to while away the time till September, and hopefully should intrigue th' peeps that don't have coats of brown.

M & I saw this last night via free screener passes from my bro... awesomes... Excellent flick! We're going back on Saturday to pay to see it... plus to... um... see it again.

Those of you who watched Firefly... well, you gotta see it... it's so good.

Those of you who never watched Firefly... well, you gotta see it... it's so good. A lot of the people in the screener crowd seemed to be there just for the free aspect of it, but there were many occassions of outbreaks of laughter and/or cheers.

It comes out on Friday, September 30th! Go see it!

The movie expands on some of the missing pieces of the Firefly series (River's escape), and it leaves some pieces still mysterious (Shepherd). Joss is also a bastard. A rat bastard. I won't spoil it, but damn... he's great at writing the unexpected, but some of his unexpected things were heart-wrenching. Bastard, bastard, bastard.

By all rights, Summer Glau should be a star! The whole cast put on fantastic performances, but Summer (who plays River) was AMAZING! Several times her lines consisted of just a look on her face and said so much more than any line ever could. Man, go see it!*

*I hate Joss Whendon.

Man, I've been waiting for this one for a long time! Can't wait to see it, and glad to see you lucky bastards who've gotten to see it early have good, if cryptic things to say about it.

I didn't discover the series until after it had been cancelled and released on DVD. Rented it on a lark and really fell in love with it. Very happy they had the chance to make this and hopefully get it before a large audience. Any propects for franchise, or to be picked up as a series again, do you think? (though not on Fox, this time!) You guys are sure making it sound like somebody important dies, though. But since Shepherd seems to be missing from most of the publicity photos and I guess isn't on the ship with them and his story isn't fully explained, that leaves some room for the future.

I'm ready--bring on the the most original and well-done sci-fi in the 'verse.

You're much better off having discovered in on DVD IMHO. Since FOX felt the need to show the series out of order and skipping some episodes, it was more than a little difficult to follow on TV. Thankfully, the movie is self contained enough that you don't need to see the series first to "get" the movie. There are a few moments that seem to be written in especially for the series fans though. I did think folks who hadn't seen the series might miss out on two major character points, but I don't even want to hint at spoilers yet, so we'll just see what y'all think first:)

You should all go see this repeatedly if you can. If Joss can clear 60 mil on opening weekend, they will make 2 sequels with the whole stinking cast!!! 9:15 tonight, baby!!!! I am so excited I might wet myself.

Oh, also there is a sweet new book out called "Finding Serenity" that has essays about the show!

I've only heard about this from this review (and of course what YOU guys have been saying).

Joy and I will go and see it as soon as a babysitter has been acquired.
bunnygirl
Dude, if I lived there, I would so babysit for you.
teleguy2
Thanks. If desperate, we'll arrange a flight.

I think we'll actually get to see it NEXT Friday.
I can make it. And I want to be a part of pushing this film into sequels.
