So far I'm not breaking out in hives or growing extra ears/horns, etc.

Belgian Ale - This triple style ale is brewed with authentic Belgian candy crystals. The subtle sweetness imparted from these crystals accentuates the notes of plum derived from our Belgian yeast. The sweetness is balanced by the spiciness of organic Cascade hops and ground coriander. 8.1% ABV.

Two thoughts on this...

1) you have some number of horns now, and the count's not changing?

2) I'm a heee-UGE beer fan. A snob, even. And I can say almost unequivocably that I just do not, in any label, dig the Belgian beers. Something... vapor-like... about them.

I had an Allagash White or two with my birthday dinner. Might tasty indeed. I highly recommend it.

Two. They keep my halo balanced.

Fat Tire is now being sold in the Twin Cities!!! I've heard so much about it over the years--I bought a case today and am savoring my first bottle. I'm *very* impressed! I can't identify the "grainy" taste (in a good way), but it is so fantastic. I think this may rival Paul Aner Hefeweisen and Bell's Oberon Ale as my favorite beers...

Here's an open question (should maybe be a poll...hmmm) but what do you think is the best snackin' food to accompany a good beer?

I can't believe no one has said peanuts, or mixed nuts, or something of the sort. mmm...

I (like the beautiful and wise michelle) will occasionally eat some chocolate with a good beer.

Pretzels and corn nuts for me.

ah... my local CostCo has Fat Tire Amber Ale for cheap(ish) and, and, and... a Kona Brewing Company 24 pack (12 Longboard & 12 Fire Rock) also for cheap(ish).

what a time to be trying to pinch pennies... (meaning: I don't think I should be buying this now)...

I love Yuengling Lager . . . so to anyone who lives on the East coast and knows where to get it . . . please send me a 12 pack!

The drink of choice around here (central PA). One could do worse I suppose. There are much better PA breweries than Yuengling (e.g., Victory, Weyerbacher, Erie).

Admittedly a "beer snob." smile.gif

Just cause I don't drink beer much anymore doesn't mean I stopped drinkin' beer, and don't for a second think I don't know when it's a requirement of life to pick some up...

For example:

Sam Adams Irish Red. It may not be new, but it's new to me... had never seen it before this week. Yummy! Not too anything, just a good solid beer. If you like Sam's, you might like this one.

Double Bock ROCKS. Love that stuff.

This stuff isn't that bad for a Miller beer.
It's cheap and smooth. Nice rich lager.

I nearly bought a six back of what looked like a homebrew in my local beer shop last night, and decided on something familiar with all intents on doing some research on the brew first. The problem is that the label name is Moe's Tavern (admittedly what first caught my attention) and I can't find anything on teh intertubes about it without running into 40 gazillion Simpson's related web pages - actually, I don't find anything at all.

The brew is supposedly out of Wisconsin and they had a pale ale, lager, and red ale -- I was wondering if any of you connoisseurs had any insights as to whether this is worth my time and dollars.

thanks!

when you google it, do so with this query (copy paste it):

"Moe's Tavern" beer -Simpsons

... the minus sign says "don't show me results with Simpsons in it." I did this, and the results are informative. The first hit is: http://beeradvocate.com/forum/read/1246404

Or, google "Moe's Tavern, Lee, MA".. that gets you there.

Ah, Yuengling ... the list of people I would kill for a 12 pack is LONG, lemme tell you. But Abby and I will be doing the Griswold thing and driving to the Joisey Shore, she and I ... you betcha I'm stopping -- both ways -- for some of that fine stuff!

Ahhh, may you and Abby find some cold, refreshing Yuengling on tap on your journeying, may you lift your mugs of the cold brew with smiles as you hear the crash of the waves behind you, may you smell the sweet salt air as you drink in some of the stuff that makes for a fine vacation at the Jersey Shore. Oh, and may you breathe in the sweet, fresh salt air as y'all get your feet wet in the tidal pools in the white sands near the sand dunes. There's nothing quite like the Jersey Shore....

...missing, it, and I only live 50 minutes away from it!

If you can find it, Widmeere's Crimson Wheat is an excelent brew. I don't know if they'll keep it around - its the beer for this year so it depends on sales.

Mmmm, I think I have one waiting for me at home actually! Hoozah!

While visiting the New England states:

Sea Dog Brewery: Bangor Maine - Hazelnut Porter (awesome), Blueberry Ale (yuck) and Brown Ale (decent) ** special note from my travel companion: entirely tooooooo sweet for him - well, and me too, and that's on all of them.

Ottor Creek: Bar Harbor Maine - Pale Ale (ok)

Allagash: Bar Harbor Maine - White (decent)

Shipyard: everywhere in this region - Pale Ale (ok)

Green Monsta: grocery store - IPA (good)

Wachusett: grocery store - Summer Wheat Ale (light and fun)

That's all I remember. I actually had maybe 4 more different types of beer but failed to log them.

Warsteiner Premium Dunkel, a German "Dark Beer from Select Roasted Malt"

I bought a 6 pack of this to try something new....refreshing; it didn't have the heavier feel to it as a black and tan, just great flavor, perfect!

Cincinnati has a rich brewing tradition & an old mid 19th century brewery, down for a few decades, was resurrected a year and a half ago....Christian Moerlein.....and when they came back one of the first brews was / is a fine tasting brew called Over the Rhine Ale....I repeat FINE tasting.
FallingLeaf
Terrapin Rye Ale. Hoppy, like a pale ale, but not that hoppy... I'm not much of a pale ale fan, really, so I'd say this is different. Nice beer, though.

Golden Monkey, a high gravity trappist ale. Normally I like neither high gravity nor trappist ales, but this is a good brew for one glass. Definitely not a 2nd-glass beer though, it's pretty strong tasting and, eh, feeling. 9.5% (!).

Rogue beers. Love the Dead Guy Ale and the Brown Nut Ale, have also come to like their ambers. Recommend you try any Rogue taps you see.
