Kim Taylor did a brief but very enjoyable set of five songs. This was the first time I had seen her, and I was very impressed. She also mentioned that Emily Dickinson had been a huge influence on her writing and said she intended to find her nearby house ("just to touch it") while she was in the area. Then after a five minute break, Karin and Linford took the stage. It was a great set, a very similar set list to what they've been playing earlier on the tour:
1. Faithfully Dangerous ("loungy" version)
2. I Want You to Be My Love
3. Hush Now (such an amazing song)
4. Bluer (with Linford on backround vocals!)
5. Born (with Kim)
6. Spark (with Kim)
7. Suitcase (with Kim)
8. Anything At All (with Kim, and Linford joining in for the "You and I" part -- spine-tingling!)
9. Looking Forward to Looking Back On This Day (with Kim)
10. Drunkard's Prayer (Karin)
11. Ohio (Karin)
12. All I need Is Everything (with Kim)
13. Cruel and Pretty (with Kim, doing a killer "oo-ee-oo-ee-oo" chorus together at the end)
Encore
14. My Funny Valentine
There was another band coming in for a 10:00 show, so the set was all too brief. But it was wonderful, just wonderful. Kim did a sensational job on the background vocals, and the new songs are soooo good. I let Bill snap the pictures (which I'm sure he'll be posting soon) and just soaked it all in.
Some post-show highlights:
- Karin giving me a big smile and a hug in the dressing room after spotting me.
- Linford and Karin signing the GDBD poster Bill had given me as a gift earlier in the day (thanks again, Bill!).
- Kim walking in on my son while he was using one of the unisex rest rooms.
- Crazy Ed volunteering to bring Kim and K&L to Emily Dickinson's house.
- Linford inviting us to come with them to go see Emily Dickinson's house.
And so, after a 15-minute drive to Amherst, we found ourselves at Emily's 19-century homestead about two hours ago with Linford, Karin and Kim. Here they are at one of several entrances to the house (with some serious red-eye).

And here is Karin taking a photo of herself and Ed by the path to Emily's garden.

I really, really like these people. There are just not that many musicians I see who invite me to join them on educational post-concert field trips.
Can't wait for Sunday...
PS. Anna and Kylie, we miss you!
Edited to add that Ed insists the photo above is only someone who looks like him, and that he in fact denies being at the above location or even anywhere in the Commonwealth of Massachussetts at the time the aforesaid events transpired...
