What do you think? A horse's bum = cover art goodness?

i'm assuming that had they seen it, they probably would've used the picture of michelle's bum, but i think the horse is a nice second choice.

Oh that Janelle... such a comedian.

When they first announced they were going back to
Drunkard's Prayer instead of
BORN I was bummed. I love
BORN as a potential OtR cd title. But, I've warmed up to DP and after reading some things K&L said about the title and why they chose that cover I do like it. Very, very much. Call me wacky but I see the word 'strength' when I look at it. Strength in many things.

I personally LOVE the cover. It's strong and sleek yet sophisticatedly retro. Not to mention, it has that 'horse-sexuality" that seems to be so popular in Europe right now.

It was a mix of both, bro. I
have been in the sarcasm mood lately...
And as far as having the gene goes. I have it in spades--got it from both sides--and I don't mean recessive, either. I have to keep it in tight containment though since once it gets loose, nothing but fallout and crisis management ensues for weeks after. One time in the 80s I had to actually submit a formal apology to the entire state of Rhode Island. Some old timers there still refer to it as "little Three Mile Island."

Or maybe just the official nag of Gandalf the White...

I just don't think the cover matches the title. I personally like Drunkard's Prayer better than Born as a title...but I think this album cover was meant for Born.

I love this cover.
Perhaps the back cover will be the horse's mouth.
Well...since you guys brought it up, I can't get the visual of Karin as Lady Godiva with her long blonde tresses flowing.
And before anyone gets all twisted...I mean no disrespect at all. In fact, the image I see is very beautiful and sensual.
OK...so it's an unikely photo for a back cover. But maybe just bare legs hugging the bare horse. Not necessarily Karin's.
Although I love Drunkard's Prayer...
(it is really one of my absolute favorite OTR songs)
I think Born was a wonderful name for the album and the beautiful bare horse photo fit that title better.

I've already had a couple of comments from people who've seen my CD lying around and the general consensus is..."huh?" We're not really sure what a horse has to do with being drunk or praying (or doing both concurrently). Obviously it's the music on the inside that matters most, but I'll admit I'm still scratching my head on this one...

But would something like that be figured out by the average listener who doesn't scour the internet for OTR articles? Probably not...

Speaking of t-shirts, anyone know where can I find an OtR t-shirt? Paste has been sold out forever, don't even show the shirts on their merch site anymore. I found none on eBay. Anyone ever make their own on CafePress or something like that?

I would just like to say that I neither like nor dislike the cover art for DP...and that wasn't even a choice on the poll.
Here's what I've heard about the art:
--a white horse (or maybe just the color white?) is symbolic of redemption
--they thought it sounded like the name of a racehorse, especially one that was an underdog/long shot to win
I think they said this between songs at the 20th Century show?

It's a great cover and this is why: As others have noted, it is NOT an image of a horse's bum or even of it's back, but almost the entire horse - minus the head. It's really interesting to me that because the face of the horse is cropped out, that people see only the butt. That says a lot about what makes something what it is. It challenges our perceptions in a simple way. That's why it's great.
