You might notice that every post now has a post number along the right side. This very post should be numbered "Post #1", for example. Besides being extremely useful in keeping track where you are in a thread, the post number has another purpose.
If you click on a post number, a popup window will appear. As indicated in the directions on that popup, you can use the clipboard feature of your computer to store the post location -- the URL -- and can later paste it inside of a post.
Please note that merely pressing the "OK" button on this dialog box will NOT put the URL into your clipboard. You must use whatever method is most appropriate for your type of computer and web browser to accomplish this. Clicking "OK" OR "Cancel" both basically do the same thing on this dialog box -- they make it go away.
When you've got a URL in your clipboard, typically the best way to use it is to paste it down between a paired set of URL tags.
Here's an example: a link to a post in the Over The Rhine General Chatter forum... this goes to the 5th post of that thread, so you should notice rather quickly when clicking on it that a link from a Post number is far more efficient than a link that just leads to the topic as a whole.
