This is part of a series of Tech Tips aimed to assist Orchard users in adjusting to our migration from Invision Board 1.3 to Invision Board 2.0.
Dealing with a post or another user you don't like...
We try to be realists here at the Orchard. We know that with a community of many active users, personal disagreements WILL occur. People will post without thinking, or sometimes because of entirely TOO MUCH thinking, and conflicts will arise.
If you see something posted with which you disagree, and it is entirely within the spirit of the current debate to answer it in an ON TOPIC and non-confrontational way, by all means do so. However, if your instinct is simply to attack another user's credibility, to argue some marginal off-topic assertion of theirs, or even to try and correct their OWN breaches of protocol, we ask that you take a moment before typing your response, and ask yourself the following question:
"If I ignore this person and simply post about the main topic of this thread what will happen?"
We like to think that things will be better.
If someone seems to be completely ruining a thread -- being disruptive, off-topic, offensive, etc. -- the best way to handle things is to report the offense to us instead of trying to publicly resolve the situation yourself. The most efficient way to let us know about a problem is to use the "Report this post" function available at the bottom of each post. However, quicker action will often come if you use our PM system to send a private message to Drew.
It is our fondest hope that conflicts and misconduct can be reasonably settled, and we will make every attempt to do so. However the first step should ALWAYS be to let us know about these problems rather than to try and resolve it in a public brawl.

I would like to report THIS POST (above) for it's excessive use of flowery language.

I would like to report Luke's post for flame-baiting.
I'd also like to report my post for absurdity and dumbness.

Here's something I've often wondered. . .
Who do you report a problem to if your problem is with the person who get's the reports?

I suppose you just lose by default then?

Maybe the moderating team needs to be expanded?

Oh yes... Let's make it a COMMITTEE! That way, NOTHING will get done!

Well, that's an interesting hypothetical question. "Hypothetical" since I am such a
sweet guy.

Hey Drew -- if I report conflicts with my co-workers to you, can you straighten them out so I don't have to resort to character assassination via intracompany email?
