This is part of a series of Tech Tips aimed to assist Orchard users in adjusting to our migration from Invision Board 1.3 to Invision Board 2.0.
The Orchard asks certain information about you when you register, however the majority of that information (address, phone number, email address, etc.) is not visible to other members. If you want to voluntarily disclose a little bit about yourself, you can go to the User Control Panel (accessible from the "My Controls" link located in the upper right corner of most Orchard pages), and then to the various settings pages under the "Personal Profile" section along the left column. The information located under the "Edit Profile info" link is the most important.
Clicking "Edit Profile info" will lead to a page which will display most of the information you entered when you registered (which is invisible to other users) under the heading "Required Information". Lower down the page there is an optional section, labeled "Your personal profile", which by default will be blank. The information in THIS section, if you chose to complete it, will be visible to your fellow users.
Some of the optional information you can choose to tell your fellow Orchardeers about...
Your Date of Birth (this is strongly recommended, because it adds your birthdate to the Calendar, and people will wish you happy birthday!)
Your website url
Your ICQ UIN
Your AOL identity
Your Yahoo identity
Your MSN Messenger identity
Your Location
Your interests
With version 2.0 of Invision Power Board, there's also a new field called "Member Biography", which you may find useful in properly introducing yourself to your fellow members. It's a free-form field where you can tell as much (or as little) about yourself as you want. Be sure to click "Amend my profile" to save any changes you make.

Since this is re. personal settings, I'm posting it here...
I understand the "block PM" thing--but what does the "buddy" list do? Everyone can already PM everyone else, right? And why a separate address book?
Thanks!

Basically, the buddy list makes a drop-down-list to make it faster to select them when you're composing a message. That's about it!

No more custom member titles?
As I understand it, there is currently a potential security issue with allowing users to define custom member titles. So, it's closed off for the time being.

WTH is a custom member title?
Where it says Newbie, Member, Slut With A Mission, Circle of Quiet, etc., there was (very briefly) an option to replace that with anything of your choosing.

Personally, I like it being gone...part of the orchard experience is getting to the different levels of postings.

Yeah, if anything, custom titles should be for people with more than 3000 posts or something.

Oh my gosh, I've been at this more than a year and I'm only at 700some posts. I don't think I'd ever get to 3000.
I try to pretend that my focus is quality over quantity. But I'm not sure even that is true.
