What other fun foods did people have this holiday? Is there something you love to eat at eat it every year? Did you try something new you hope to repeat next year?

I made a brunch for Christmas morning. It included:

Dried Pear Cardamom Scones; Baked eggs with carmelized onions, sauted mushrooms, roasted red peppers, and goat cheese; Bacon; and fresh fruit.

Later that day for my aunt's open house I made:

Nutmeg Meltaway Cookies and a Beet, Orange, red onion, and pomegranite salad with a balsamic, pomegranite juice dressing.

I can't wait to hear about other yummy foods.

Lefsa (sic?).
It's a Skandanavian flat bread made from potatos. What can I say, my grandma's Norwegian.

Christina, you are such an overachiever! wink.gif

Nothing new this year for us I'm afraid, we just did my usual homemade egg nog and jumbo shrimp steamed with Chardonnay and bay leaf served with remoulade sauce for hors d'oeuvres, along with a wonderful cold antipasto platter assembled by the local Italian deli. Dinner was our traditional cranberries + turkey + gravy + stuffing + ham + mashed potatoes + yams + rolls + assorted vegetables. Dessert was homemade cheesecake and mud pie made with mint chocolate chip ice cream. Brunch was scrambled eggs with bacon, wheat toast and home fries. Our families just aren't very adventurous (and they all seem intent on dying from arteriosclerosis).

I think I'll make some lentil soup next year, though -- I have a real good recipe for that somewhere.

I didn't do as much cooking this year as I normally do. One (good) thing that I did make though was a Butternut-Corn Chowder with Goat Cheese Croutons for a pre-Christmas dinner with some friends.
