Yep, it really has been ten years.

The 10th Anniversary edition of Clerks is out tomorrow. It may be awhile before I can afford to buy it, but just thought I'd let you guys know in case anyone with money was interested. I can't wait to see what the hell is actually in this thing...3 discs of Kevin Smith goodness.

Aaron
Ok, I like this movie a lot, but let me play teh devil's advocate here. Why should there be a tenth anniversery edition? What is the real purpose of a tenth anniversery edition except to bring sales up again? I am sure there are all kinds of added goodies and things, but....
Like I said, I am kind of playing the devil's advocate here. Just want to make everyone think before they go out and blindly buy.

I see Kevin Smith being as spiffy with his features as Peter Jackson was on the EE versions LotR. A quick search confirmed it. Clerks X special features to include:

Yeah, yeah.

The 10th Anniversary DVD edition of Oasis' Definitely Maybe comes out today. As much as I need Clerks, this takes precedence today.

(I can't believe I bought that album 10 years ago...i'm getting old unsure.gif )

So...anyone who picked this up yesterday... Is it worth having?

It's got LOADS of new stuff... if you're a View Askew junkie who watches all of the Kevin Smith commentary and extra stuff... then, YES, it's worth having.

Kev's commentaries are oft times funnier than the movies...

So are the 'edited for TV' versions of his movies, if you've got a masochistic sense of humor. laugh.gif

OK, so.... I'd never seen Clerks. I put it in my BB queue a few weeks ago and got it in the mail this week, and the girlie and I watched it last night. Well, most of it that is.... we watched right up until the point where I said, "does this suck as badly for you as it does for me?" and she responded in the affirmative. Badly filmed, VERY badly acted, sounded like they were reading their lines. Foul-mouthed, junior high potty humor-type banter that could have been written by literally anybody with a vocabulary.

People are nuts about THIS? What a horrible disappoinment after hearing all the hype for a decade.

I think Clerks is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. It couldn't have been written by anyone but Kevin Smith. It was his first film and produced for $50K, so you can't expect too much in the way of cinematography. Its "badness" is a big part of its charm.

Well, then let me rephrase: for a really, really BAD film, it was charming! laugh.gif
