The first show is from the 1996 Christmas tour with Karin, Linford, Brian, and Chris Dahlgren. It's an audience recording with pretty good sound (the taper obviously wasn't using high end equipment). Every few songs or so, the people next to the taper have a conversation between songs.

The song actually dates back to late 1995. For some strange reason, every single lineup of the band did a version of it (my favorite being the one on this disc with Chris Dahlgren's bass and Brian's backup vocals), but it never made it on to an album. It was passed over for every album from Good Dog Bad Dog on.

Wow. I wonder why they didn't put it on Besides..? Glad to have it on FFR, anyway, and I'm looking forward to hearing this and some of the TDNOTY stuff I've not heard live.

I know at the time there were listees who were very disappointed that it wasn't there. I wasn't one of them, though; it's never been one of my favorites.

I'm particularly interested in hearing "Paper Wings," which I haven't heard before.

About this recording. The music is great, and the sound quality is, well, listenable (at high volume), but there are some spots that are AWEFUL. The second CD has some bad pops and wiggles, especially on Silent Night, Go down Easy, Circle of Quiet. I'm hoping that I happen to have recorded them onto a faulty CD, although Little Blue River (first disc) has a glitch that also makes me wonder. Could someone who has this tell me whether they have the same problems?
A different wonderment: Is that Brian singing BGVs? It's certainly not Linford, and it doesn't sound like Ric, but I don't remember Brian singing the one time I heard the quartet. He sounds GREAT.

I was the first recipient of this vine after the seed.

I just listened to disc 2 from my harddrive with Sony headphones and I heard no problems...I couldn't detect any problems with SN, GDE or COQ.
They sound great and the Back up vocalist IS great, BTW. No clue as to who it is.

On disc 1, LBR...there is one hiccup I detect at 2:27 into the song...a little skip, relatively minor IMO.

If you need another copy of disc 2, I'd be happy to send you a second generation copy of mine.
Let me know.
Maybe someone further down the vine has the same problem as you, if the disc somehow got damaged in transit.

This is the second difficult apology I've had to make today, on this very forum. I've been in possession of the master for this show since... //winces// roundabout a month. I meant to mail it to Bill before I left town--put the package in the car and everything. Somehow, I only just noticed it wedged in car's backseat, still, yesterday (and I've been back in town for a few days now).

(Incidentally, I too have noticed hiccoughs, most notably during "Little Blue River," when there is an unnatural seque between Karin's verse into the chorus. Time permitting, I'll report the exact problem(s), later. Overall, the slight imperfection of the recording's quality is not distracting.)
