hello all. bill here, i live in louisville, been here for about 8 years, i lived in cincinnati before that for about 8 years and was originally born and raised in atlanta. i've been enjoying OtR since 'til we have faces, while living in cinti, but didn't really go nuts until i saw them live the first time, then i was hooked and have probably seen them 20-25+ times.
i'm a single [re: happily divorced] father of two, a son [senior in high school] and a daughter who just started nursing school @ UofL. i feel very fortunate, both are great kids and i am very proud of them. i am the director of operations for a blockbuster franchise group [no late fee joke please], our stores are in bloomington, terre haute and a few other indiana towns, i have been in the business for a long time. i love & enjoy my job, work with some good people and one of the nice perks of the job is a lot of freedom to do my job, my way and i get some great travel opportunities, which i love.
i enjoy music, ironically considering my work, much more than movies. the beatles [lennon was a god, george was brilliant & underappreciated], dylan, neil young, r.e.m., richard thompson, johnny cash, cowboy junkies, OtR are among the favorites. and have a great [imo] collection of music, both standard releases and unreleased live and/or "boots". i like a wide & varying mix and usually enjoy [or at minimum respect & appreciate] any performer who does what they do well. the beatles and dylan specifically and the music of the times in general were the soundtrack for my "formative" years and i consider myself liberal [in life & politics] and proud of it
i'm a pretty simple, to the point kinda guy, and am a big believer in john lennon's quote "life is what happen when you're busy making other plans" and even at this point in my life, i still try to live my life in a way that will make that will make my parents, whom i love and have great respect for, proud.
that about sums it up...

Well, hello Bill!
I used to work at Blockbuster Video myself! Worked at the Beechmont Avenue location (near Eight Mile Road), and helped open the Newport Kentucky store. Those were many years ago, but I enjoyed working there.
Welcome to the fourm! I hope you like it!

drew, how long ago were you at blockbuster? i ran those stores [the cinti/norther ky] as a DM before moving to louisville. the anderson store was a favorite and i lived around the corner on asbury road.
do you remember any of your manager's name? i worked with jim farrell [he was at beechmont] for a long time @ BV and prior. before BV i was w/"THE video store" and ran those in cinti, we also had one music store called "the record store" @ the old kenwood towne center, when it was still a strip mall.
again, great board, thanks. good to hear from you and interested to see if we were at BV at the same time. small world, but i would'nt want to paint it [steven wright].

I worked at BBV ...hrm... <thinking> I think it was in the late 80s. I don't recall the manager's names (sorry!), but I don't think it was Jim...
Hrm. I'll keep thinking about it and see if I remember anything.

Hi Bill! Welcome to the Orchard! Glad you found this little slice of heaven. Make yourself at home. I'm sure you'll fit in well here and develop many friendships.
Oh, and can you do anything about these late fees?
(a little late, I know, but it just didn't seem right to only have 7 posts here... even if he was one of the first!)
