In all the OTR concerts I've ever seen, I have never heardthis song performed live. Anyone else? Might be the most moving song I've ever heard. (and with the whole OTR catalog that says a lot). IT makes me want to do something romantic - conceive children, knock over a convenience store with a loved one, something.

You know, I was just thinking about this song yesterday. I have a bootleg and it was on it and YES!! Paging K&L please work this one back into the line-up. Pretty Please

It is an AMAZING song!!, and moving!

It's also one of my tippity-top OtR faves. They offered up as one of their mp3 rarities a couple years back from a 2001 show I think. It's beautiful. There's a vine of the mp3 rarities:

and if you're not familiar w/ the whole 'vine' thing, check this out first:

Thanks! So happy to be here. I am an Over The Rhine geek. Glad to know I'm not alone. (that's a compliment)

Karin's got such a great range with that voice of hers. She really showed it off a lot in many of these earlier songs. So beautiful.

I saw them open up a show in Athens GA about 10 years ago with Cast Me Away/And Can It Be - I was blown away. I think I said it before but I will say it again - if I could have bottled those few minutes up, OtR could solve that world peace problem. Amazing.

I first saw OTR in 1991. As I've stated before....somewhere....I was blown away by that amazing voice coming from behind all the hair. I was equally, if not moreso, blown away the second time I managed to see them again, on the FFR tour. I was rather suprised with how strong Karin's voice was when they opened with The World Can Wait. It was almost a different voice all together from what I remembered. Was it my memory or voice experience and maturity?

Ummmm, this is one of my all time faves. I LOVE IT!! And what about Terri harmoninzing on the "And can it ever be"s? Eh. I'm bonding with every one of you who've said similar things. We are ONE!!! ohmy.gif)

I agree with you on the difference in her voice. I think its her maturity. I remember seeing them in the early days as well, and compared to today her voice did not sound as "full". Like maybe she was still trying to discover the perfect tone. And listening to the early albums (TWHF and Patience) I can definitely tell the difference in the quality and sound of the music as a whole.

I loved them then.. and I love them now.

they did "and can it be" friday night here in louisville. it's also one of my favorites, especially some of the live versions from the "terri" era, amazing stuff. friday night, mickey's wife molly joined karin on this. and while her voice is very different than terri's, it took me back there, it was every bit as good.

here's hoping that molly continues to be a part of future shows and her role increases more and more. she's still a little hesitant but seems to get more and more comfortable on each song. in nashville she only joined on on one song, fool. last night she was in on long lost brother, and can it be and fool. and they sound great together.

it's been in the last two shows. but, i wouldn't get too excited unless you see molly (mickey's wife) around. i think they've just been doing it because of the harmony opportunities. but damn, it's sweet.
