Anyone else? Am I the only viewer following this show?
I have been a Survivor addict since season 2.
Thursday night means getting another fix in the continuing saga of pseudo-reality TV.
My name is Trudy and I'm a Survivor-holic.
(all together....Hello, Trudy.....)

I'm bumping this topic because we have had so many new peeps join our group, there must be SOMEBODY other than me that watches this show.
If Jenn has admitted she's addicted to OC, there must be others who NEED to confess their loyalties.

I do, but I thought you already knew that.
I watched about half of season one, skipped 2 & 3, and started in earnest with season 4. It is the only "reality" show I watch.

OMG! I am a Survivor junkie, big time! I work the 4-midnight shift so as soon as I get in the door Thursday night, I have the tape rewinding so I can sit and watch it. I am loving! this all-stars season. I was so glad to see Hatch go, though NO ONE can play the game as well as he. His arrogance just overshadowed anything in him that could be good. Sue, I think she thought about it and will use it as a way to make some money, since she knew no way in heck would she be the sole-survivor. I wonder if she will be at the reunion show? That would be very interesting......

I'm glad to see Sue AND Richard gone. I don't know what to say about what Sue is claiming Richard did. I find it hard to believe he would 'violate' her on National TV. Everyone was used to his nakedness...it wasn't new. She is make a very serious accusation...a criminal accusation. I wonder, too what is going to happen. I think they had severe animosity towards each other from the previous series. Do you think she will actually file charges?
My favorites at this point are Boston Rob...arrogant as all get-out but an excellent contender; And Lex....he lays low and may just avoid everyones axe until the very end...then cinch it with the jury cause everyone likes him.

All right, I'm outing myself . . . I too am a Survivor junkie.
Trudes, I just read somewhere that Sue isn't pressing charges, and further she had a very awkward little reunion with Richard on the morning news. I didn't see her interviewed so I don't know if she regrets how she handled it. But I can't say I'm terribly sad to see her go.
Anyway, what makes this show so great and better than all other reality shows? Discuss.

So, what did you small band of Survivor junkies think of this week's episode? Smart move by Lex, I thought. Strategically, if they're close to a merge I think it is better to get rid of the biggest threats, not the person that is bugging you the most or whatever . . .
I think that's what interests me the most about this show, the strategy. Well, and the drama. And of course there's the hijinks. OK, I love everything about this show.
Trudes
Mar 15 2004, 01:16 PM
The last show convinces me more that Lex may emerge a victor...he uses his head, but seems to maintain his stature as a likeable fellow.
I agree, get rid of the threats.
The annoying contestants are good to keep around to the end, cause when it comes down to a vote from the jury, the best situation would be to be sitting next to an annoying S.O.B.
The merge is approaching....then the game gets more intense with every man for himself.
Just a reminder for all us diehards...the show is on WEDNESDAY this week....don't miss it.
Ready for my weekly fix a day early...T xo

So are Rob and Amber gonna do it and if so admit it?
Do you think they've already done it at this point in the game?
I think Boston Rob is playing the game just right...as obnoxious as that may be.
otrfan
Mar 25 2004, 04:46 PM
Rob is indeed an outstanding player. Right behind Richard Hatch. Have they done it? Wouldn't surprise me at all. Will we see it? After the crackdown the FCC is doing, I doubt it. Speaking of...I heard Man in a Box on the radio today, and it is now being edited. FCC has these folks scared!

Personally, if I was there, I'd be lobbying to kick him out right after the merge.
Speaking of the merge, anyone have any thoughts on what the twist is going to be next week?
If they do, I hope we don't see any of it. We've had enough "parental warnings" this season. And if they did do it, I certainly hope they did it somewhere more private than the Chapera shelter while everyone else was there, even if they were all "sleeping."

I want Lex to win. I just like him. Although if Rob won I wouldn't be unhappy, because he's a punk sometimes but he's playing a great game.
The other funny part about the clip show was the segment about how no one can understand what Big Tom says. That was great.

I just watched last week's episode on tape yesterday--and, seriously. What were they thinking? Jerri? That was stupid. They should have voted out the member of the other tribe while they had the chance! They haven't even merged yet and already Lex & Co. have bent to Rob's wishes. Seems like the rest of the season just got pretty predictable. . . hope I'm wrong though.
What did you small band o' Survivorholics think?

Apr 5 2004, 08:45 PM
I was mad, too! Lex lost his backbone it seems. Bowing down to Lord Rob! I don't think so. Jerri was so much better this time than last, more likeable all around. I don't think Lex is the brightest star in the sky, though he is smarter than Shi Ann, who is a complete waste of space.

Yeah, I don't understand why they're all so scared about Rob getting mad. It's not like he's going to have their families whacked if they voted Amber out. It seems to me like they could band together with the rest of his tribe when they merge to get rid of him anyway, but I doubt they will.
At work we were discussing the fact that the powers that be seem to be giving these guys a lot of food, when it seems like the survivors have been more adept at providing for themselves than usual. We think it's getting a bit boring, despite the twists.

Ugh! Absolutely. I can't figure out how Lex could entertain the idea of tossing Jerri, who is actually of some use in challenges and seemed honest in her loyalty, over Shi Ann, who is totally useless and probably two-faced.
Whatever. Jeanne, I agree--they are getting a lot of food. Also, they got all those tools to build awesome shelters. It's more like watching Swiss Family Robinson now. If only pirates would attack, that might make it interesting again. . .

True...too much food for any little thing. Oh Rob made a joke---let's feed them. Rob is crying over losing Amber---feed them! I wanted her to get voted out so i could see the look on his face when she was a no-show at the next challenge. I do hope they throw some major twists in it like we have never seen before. It is getting sort of ho-hum.

That was one of the greatest moments in Survivor history, IMHO. Rupert has not been playing as well as I had hoped he would. He has made some rather poor decisions this go round. I would like to see him make it as the all-star.

Stupid Lex. I was really pulling for him before, but that move last week was so boneheaded--no surprise that it led to his demise. And what's with trying to play the "this is about friendship" card with Rob? Lex is the same guy that told Ethan it wasn't about friendship, it was business, when he ousted him.
Oh well. At least we finally got some high drama . . . I'm kind of hoping that Amber is playing Rob. That would rock.

My fantasy for this week is that Kathy will rally the troops into voting off Rob (or Amber, if Rob has immunity). However, I think in reality, the plan will fail and Kathy will be voted out.
It's getting tricky now. By tomorrow I have to pick my final 4 for the office pool, and I have no idea who I want to win. I would have picked Kathy, but it's highly unlikely. Right now I'm thinking:
4. Rupert
3. Jenna
2. Amber
1. Rob
But that's not what I want to see at all. Although if it does play out that way, I won't have to see Shii Ann in the final 4 either.
Trudes
Apr 13 2004, 05:02 PM
Lex had been my choice for the winner. I thought Kathy was going to give her immunity to Lex last week.
I like Rob but if he wins it will be because he out connived 'em all, the slime. He really is quite able, though.
I think Amber, Tom and ShiAnn are pawns to be saved for disposability.
Alicia and Jenna are contenders for the FF.
Rupert isn't the prominant figure he seemed to be in his own survivor.
I think it comes down to:
4. Jenna
3. Rupert
2. Alicia
1. Rob
Remember Lex is on the jury.

Lex did tell Kathy not to give him the immunity. It looked like he didn't actually mean it after she said she wasn't giving it up.
Rupert really did wimp out this time. I think it was too soon for him to go through this all again.
I don't think Amber's as much of a pawn to Rob. I mean, if they're the final two & still together, he'll be sharing the money, even if she wins it all. (Or at least he'd plan to.)
I'm not sure which way the jury would swing: will they vote for the person they like better or the person who played the game better? If it's the latter, I think Rob's a shoo-in.
otrfan
Apr 13 2004, 09:40 PM
Rob is indeed playing the game and playing it well (I think being slimy, lying and a back-stabber, user ort makes a great GAME player.) I still don't like him one bit. I can only hope SOMEONE will wise up and realize he has to go. Anyone who thinks he will take them along is out of their mind! He will take Amber to the finals, if she is still there with him.
Thankfully it is getting more interesting. It was sort of ho-hum for a while, but I think last week may turn it around quite a bit.
I am off this Thursday so I can see it as it airs. That, my friends, makes me smile (I know, doesn't take much)
