nickle creek - "why should the fire die" (getting into it, took a few listens. but it's growing on me)

I agree, Bill. I listened to it on CMT's website before it was released and I was very disappointed. But I dig it now.

"Why Should the Fire Die?" - Nickel Creek
"Hi™ How Are You Today" - Ashely MacIsaac
"Minding the Gap" - Kila
"Beolach" - Beolach

So I went a little wild and crazy. smile.gif

I think the CD is pretty good, but the cover bugs me for some reason...not to mention some of the quotes inside...

Harper - self-titled

He's a blues harp man from down under who also sings and plays the didgeridoo.

Nickel Creek - Why Should the Fire Die?

I bought this on my lunch stop. On the bus ride. To Wheaton College. Which is where I'm at now. Gyah!

It's a great CD, too.

Plus a Scottish accent is more fun than a British one... at least to me...

And to whomever asked me to post how I liked the Juliette and the Licks EP I bought a coupla months ago. I love it and highly recommend it! It's refreshlingly agressive and un-apologeticly in your face. Plus, Juliette Lewis can really sing. smile.gif

when i was at the show in columbus, i bought kim taylor's cd.

haven't had a chance to listen to it...she's a little too mellow and new to use as driving music in the wee hours of the am. smile.gif but i will be listening soon, and i will be looking forward to her new cd.

as will my mom...she looked over at me when kim was done playing and said, "i know what i want for christmas." ha! new convert! smile.gif

Thanks for the approval. I don't know what kept me, I've had "newborn" very near the top of my favorite song list for a long time. It is still my favourite on the album, but I really like the lot of it.

Their new album "Leaders of the Free World" is coming out in a few weeks time.

Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers - "For The Chosen Who"

I caught Piazza's show tonight at the Greater Ozarks Blues Festival. This guy's fun to watch play that blues harp.

Stacy Mitchart and Buddy Guy were there as well. 2500 people having a good time on a beautiful 65° night. Woo hoo, fall is just around the corner!

Got three new ones yesterday.....

1. Iron & Wine - Woman King
2. Paul McCartney - Chaos and Creation in the Backyard
3. Colin Hay - Going Somewhere

May sound crazy, but my fave of the three (at this point) is Colin Hay by a landslide...

Damn straight. wink.gif*

*for those who don't know, our very own kab was gracious enough to host me for several days so that I might 1.) enjoy her company and 2.) see some killer shows by my favorite band. She accompanied me to one show, and was thus compelled to buy the aforementioned album. You see...I'm not just bs'n y'all about this band.

Sigur Ros - Takk...
New Pornographers - Twin Cinema

On the latter, all I have to say is this:

"I took one drink from the cup of human kindness, and I'm shitfaced!" (from the song Use It)

You want these albums.

While I agree the music is good, the cover and the snippets inside the cover make me question my puchase...
