Drat, no Quebec dates... though there's a shot in hell I can make it to WestFest.  Sweet!  biggrin.gif

Keep checking back as they've been adding new dates. Look at the gaps in dates. Last year they did Canada a little in the spring and October/November.

I love AB/tLoO.  Can't stop listening to it.  It's my first Cave album, though.  Where should I go to expand my collection?

Oh, definitely The Boatmans Call and No More Shall we Part. Both amazing albums, and IMO better than the new ones, even though they are great. Iäm new to cave myself, and I understand his evolution has been the standard punk-rock-to-wise-mellow-guy so I suppose the further back you go the mor rock it will be. Of course, Murder Ballads, if your stomach can take it... wink.gif

"People ain't no good" on the Boatmans Call is just the saddest song ...ever. No matter how depressed you feel, this one is sure to make you feel a little better.

Sigur Ros - Von

bruce! how is the new one?

It's actually an old one (their first, 1997). There's also a remix of this album (1999) called Von Brigdi.

To answer for Bruce... it's OK. Not as good as the last two previous full-length LPs, but still some interesting sounds on it. It's more "abrasive" than Ágætis byrjun or ( )...

Float Away With The Friday Night Gods -- Marah

Two bucks, plus two-and-a-half shipping, on eBay.

After a first listen, I'm not 100% sure it's worth a lot more than that, but a first listen is, after all, only a first listen.

Almost forgot ... the new Wilco (can't quite get into it so far) and a rerelease of Three Feet High and Rising by De La Soul.

The latter is a sorely underappreciated work of art -- I mean, they sample Hall & Oates' I Can't Go For That.

Genius.

How do you like Cold Roses? I've enjoyed the 2nd disc more than the first so far...but that was listening with the kids running around the house.

Sorry Steve, just saw this. Listened twice so far, I like both discs pretty well. Just been invited to see him in Philly this Friday, pondering whether to take half a day off to drive down there...

I'm also very impressed with how he enlisted Jerry Garcia to play on this album, Jerry being dead and all.

Right on. I have found some decent CDs through the public library. From today's visit: blink-182, Luscious Jackson, Janis Joplin, Ben Harper and the Blind Boys of Alabama, Hank Williams Sr., The Jesus and Mary Chain, and Cheap Trick. Fun stuff and the cost is free.

This morning I went into town to enjoy the sun, strolled down the rummage sale / antique market and bought an "The Best of" LP of Leonard Cohen.

Last week I went to the CD presentation of a small but promising Dutch band called "Brown Feather Sparrow". I think all you guys should take a look at their website. There are some mp3's for download. I think people that like OtR will also like their music.
Off course I immediately bought the CD.

Oh man is this a fantastic record. I'm listening to it right now.

I remember seeing her perform with her old man Loudon Wainwright III in 1998 or so. She's all grown up now, lemme tell you. Their relationship was always strained, but she doesn't even thank her old man on this record.

Eesh. What a brilliant but dysfunctional friggin' family.

Great record ... go out and buy it. Now, ya bastid!
