I scored this on a "25 CD lot" on eBay that had a rare Peter Mulvey CD in it... the Peter Malick CD was a nice surprise, too...

A rare Peter Mulvey CD? Which disc is that?

About 3 days ago I sorta congratulated myself for staying out of used CD stores for a while.  Looks like it's time for me to retract those congratulations...

Here's what I got last night:

Dead Can Dance - Aion

that's a wonderful c.d. but i think my fave is serpent's egg! smile.gif

I don't have a copy of Serpent's Egg yet, so I can't rightly comment on it, but my personal fave DCD disc is Toward the Within. If nothing else, that disc is worth acquiring just for the live rendition of Cantara.

last cd....
that would be Ella Fitzgerald's live concert cd.....it is fantastic.

It's not a CD, it's a VHS cassette, but I am so happy!

The Shredder Gets Splintered! 1989 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV episodes! I can't wait until I've got a VCR to try it in! Happy happy happy!!!
WalrusOct9
This doesn't really count, but I dug out the tape I made of Oasis on MTV Unplugged back in '96. Hadn't watched it in awhile...they played a freaking awesome set.

Remember the days when you could turn on the TV and see your favorite band? *sigh*
HappyScout
I was there the day MTV put the thang on the air! Hot for Teacher is one of my favorite moldy oldies! Now real World? Gees do they ever get caught under age drinking? Who cares about getting made! The only music on MTV is the commercials!

I HATE when that happens! Sorry it happened to you, Roger!

I haven't bought any CDs in a few weeks, but late last week I received copies of The Essential Nina Simone and Saturday Night Fever that had been burned (burnt?) for me by one of my favorite girls in the entire world. Helped smooth out the edges of a ridiculously rough week, work-wise!

i just recently purchased the "best of" album soon to come out by 6p. should be interesting.

Well, I've sworn to quit buying CD's, but DVD's are still fair game.

Stevie Ray Vaughan's Live At Montreaux and Van Halen's Live Without A Net came out today, $11.99 at Best Buy, and they had AC/DC's Live At Donnington for $8.99, which is one of the best filmed concerts I've ever seen. smile.gif

DVD's are a lot harder to download over the internet. ph34r.gif (due to the nature of a tiny apartment, I also just use my computer for playing music and didn't take any CD's with me when I moved)

They also haven't price-fixed DVD's...archival releases are becoming cheaper and cheaper, since the movie people have realized that a DVD costs about 40 cents to manufacture...you can get older movies, even special editions, for $10. Why is a CD of a 30-year old album still $18?

The limited "music/entertainement" funds I have, I'd rather spend seeing live music.

Good question!!

The keep complaining about slumping sales and lost sales to illegal file-sharing... but maybe if they kept up with the times, they'd realize that they've been gouging their customers for 20+ years. When the customers gouge back... blah.

My sister gave me Norah Jones' Feels Like Home for my birthday. Does that count? wink.gif
jp-detroit
No kidding! Why on earth do new CDs cost 18.99, when a new 2DVD set costs 15.99!!!! If DVDs ca be sold so cheap, there's no reason CDs have to stay so high. They are actually getting cheaper (Cds) but older releases are still so high priced. It's crazy.

Stevie Ray Vaughan's 2-DVD Live At Montreaux was $11.99 the week it came out. The audio CD of those same performances is $23 on Amazon. rolleyes.gif

I stumbled across a used copy of that Rilo Kiley disc a couple weeks ago and almost bought it. I'm kinda regretting now that I didn't.

My most recent purchase was some Marillion compilation from before Fish left the group, dirt-cheap at the ever-overpriced Music World. Now if only I could find Eternal Sunshine for less than twenty-seven dollars....

Today, I picked up Franks Wild Years, from good ole Tom Waits, and Mud from Ezster Balint.

Two excellent choices if I might add. biggrin.gif

I highly recommend to anyone living in the Columbus, OH area to go check out Camper Van Beethoven and The Damnwells at the Newport Music Hall this Saturday 10/30. I have seen the Damnwells 3 times and they are great. They sort of are a mix of the Replacements, Gin Blossoms, and the Jayhawks...YUM!!

Camper Van Beethoven are sort of legendary. Their lead singer David Lowery went on to form Cracker, who had a huge buzz bin hit with "Low" in about 1994-95. I will be there. Look me up if you are there.
