Full Version: Never Wake a Snoring Christian

Aaron
I have never snored so loudly, as I did that day.
I sat on my padded pew,
as my pastor recited his sermon from his notes
My fellow church goers
flipped Bibles from verse to verse.
I imagine it must have been good,
what my pastor said that day.
Those who woke me after church
had a new beam on their face
as they heard news that would
forever change their lives.
But my weary ears could not bear his voice
instead, in my sleep, I heard the voice of God.

(yeah, yeah, I need to expand this, any other suggestions?)

I like how this poem starts out ... but then I immediately find myself wondering, If he is/was sleeping, how did he know what everyone else was doing?

: )

And I wonder what the "voice of God" sounds like. (I always think of whoever did the voice that Moses/Charlton Heston heard in The Ten Commandments.) Or at the very least, what He or She said.

I've heard the sound of it within the curling waves at the Atlantic Ocean, in fields early in the morning, and at other unpredictable times - times when I have been alone. The voice of God has never been like that of Darth Vader or Charlton Heston - ha! Quite the opposite. To me, the voice of God has always come through in a subtle, pure, and generally obvious timbre. He draws me out in a quieter voice most of the time.

He draws me out in a quieter voice
