iirc, latter days was the first otr song i ever heard. i was captivated by the fading in of the first stoke of the magical chord...
to this day, i have to stop whatever i'm doing and listen to the song through completion (and usually repeat) until i can continue whatever task i was involved in.
the only other song that hits me the same way is 'merciful eyes' --and to a lesser degree, 'restore my soul' by the choir off of their circle slide cd.
sharing in the late night,

I honestly can't listen to any song on this album without listening to the whole thing, so it's kind of irrelevant to make an "order." The whole album is just so good. But I am a sucker for lyricism. Let's just say "Faithfully Dangerous" is my second favorite song on the album, as illustrated below:
1. The Seahorse
1.07. Etcetera Whatever
1.1. Latter Days
1.14. All I Need Is Everything
1.2. Go Down Easy
1.31. Happy to Be So
1.46. Willoughby
1.54. It's Never Quite What It Seems
1.6. Everyman's Daughter
1.87. I Will Not Eat the Darkness
1.93. Poughkeepsie
2. Faithfully Dangerous
(Hey, I would go up to like 6 on Kid A. I really like this album.)

Latter Days, to me, is a masterpiece. Also, I've noticed that (on Latter Days for instance) Karin's vocals "trail" from slightly left of center to right at the end of some phrases (sorry, geek songwriter here). For instance, the word "heartache" trails off to the right. After (finally) seeing them live, I'm inclined to think they had two vox mics in front of her (or perhaps a main vox mic and room mics) and the "panning" is a natural consequence of Karin slightly moving her head away from the main vox mic at the end of phrases.
*wonders if you've all stopped reading already*
I love how OtR's work seems to be so "unproduced" and yet there is so much to listen to on every song. I seem to never tire of it.
Late,
J
