I think the live version of "If I'm Drowning" has to be one of the best live tracks any band's put on...er...plastic? What the hell are CDs made of, anyway?

i totally agree with you. can't help but groove and sing along whenever it comes up.

as to your question, i've never thought about what sort of material cd's are made of. being courious, had to find out.

The CD disk is a 120 mm diameter disk of polycarbonate

This was the first Over The Rhine albut i bought.

It started my love afair with OtR, and every new album that i got i could just put in and play. it really didnt matter what order because all of the songs are awesome.

I think it's kind of inconsistent, just because of the nature of an odds n' sods type compilation, but "Miles" and "Lucy" are among my favorite OTR songs, which justifies the whole album's existance. I also really liked the stripped down version of "All I Need Is Everything."
CarriedAway
definitely "lucy"...

i think it's the perfect song to describe Lucy Snowe in Charlotte Bronte's villette

Wow, no one's mentioned Murder. I love it. So different and unique. Dead Weight is also a fave.

Wow, I've been listening to Besides today. and WOW does it bring back memories. Last Night is such a great song. I'm not sure if it's a symptom of hanging around with a 1 year old or not, but when it came on in the car tonight, I spontaneously started clapping and got an honest to goodness real ear to ear grin on my face. That song is so fun. I wish they would resurrect it for a few shows this summer and or fall.

And WOW, the drumming on Murder reminded me so much of how sad I was to see Brian go. There have been some really great percussionists over the years to play with our beloved band, but no one will ever take the place Brian Kelley holds in my heart. He is truly an amazing talent and I don't care what the circumstances were (or are) Karin and Linford lost a huge asset when they lost Brian. His timing and style helped define OTR in the early nineties. If you don't believe me, listen to Murder, June, Within Without, Dangerously Faithful, on and on... Brian, rock on.

Ahh. What a great back catalog Karin and Linford have. It's amazing. <perpetual grin as I listen to GDBD thr> biggrin.gif

Yeah, I've always loved Besides! Otr's earlier grooves are as near and dear to my heart as the new ones. That's one of the things I love about them! GDBD's my fave, but Eve and Patience, that was good stuff! Also, I've often thought Brian was one of their best fits as a drummer. After seeing them at the Bijou the other night, and that amazing drummer they have now! I actually found myself wondering about Brian.

Thanks for the reminder of some oldies but goodies!

I loved Lucy live when Karin would also mention "The Reverend" mmmmm and the wailing oh how I loves the wailing... *plays the song now*
