Here's a bio I used for a now defunct website for which I wrote movie reviews and sports columns (beware...potentially offensive word used):
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Rich Fry is one of those guys who wishes he was worldly, and yet knows he is not. The most exciting place he’s ever been is the Yucatan in Mexico, where he climbed around on Mayan ruins wishing he was Indiana Jones. He grew up uncool, listening to John Denver and ELO; surviving that, he grew to an appreciation of all music (yes, including country). He was a Boy Scout to First Class. He played with Legos into his teens, saw Aliens 5 times in the movie theater. Despite all this, he was well-liked in high school and could have even been referred to as “borderline popular.”
After spending most of his youth and young adulthood telling lies and trying to get over on people, he found that honesty works better, having integrity doesn’t suck, and being trustworthy is cool. He often says “I know everything, just not all at once.” Obviously, he’s still in the process of shedding some self-righteousness.
He works in radio, digs all forms of entertainment, including musicals. Despite the latter, he’s heterosexual. If pressed to name his favorite films, he’d say Casablanca, Henry V, Aliens, Excalibur, Bull Durham, Ran, La Femme Nikita, [editor’s note: 50 movie titles omitted for space]. And he thinks anyone who disagrees that Star Trek II is the best one is a freak.
He digs quotes...movie quotes, literature quotes, whatever. Rich loves audio production, and could waste hours editing movie quotes into songs. (2004 edit: "waste" being the operative word)
He calls soda Soda, not Pop and is baffled as to why some people pronounce jaguar as if there’s an “i” in it. He thinks it’s hilarious that Holly Hunter’s favorite curse word is “cocksucker.”
One of these days he’s gonna get a tattoo. (2004 edit: unless he dies before he decides what it will be)
