I've mentioned before that I'm not a big chocolate ice cream fan. I like chocolate in my ice cream, but not chocolate ice cream.

It appears I've caved. Well, 1/2 caved. I've been craving chocolate, but not a chocolate bar. So I stopped in to the store today and wound up at the ice cream freezer. And walked away w/ Ben&Jerry's Half Baked. Wow. Allow me to type the description for you...

chocolate fudge brownie meets chocolate chip cookie dough: a crazy concoction of chocolate ice cream & vanilla ice cream mixed with fudge brownies & gobs of chocolate chip cookie dough.

I'd just like to take a moment to say, thank you Ben, thank you Jerry. This is fanf***ingtabulous.
[jp/p]
I was just about to say it's a pleasure meeting a fellow non-chocolate lover, but it seems I'm too late.

The stigmas are true.

I must . . . convert.

J/P,
Out of 38 votes, I believe I am the only strawberry.
I really don't care for chocolate.
A little milk or white chocolate is acceptable, but never a whole bowl.
I think it has a somewhat bitter taste.

that's it!

i'm getting some mint chocolate chip ice cream TODAY!!!!

Hi, my name is Dan and I am a chocoholic.

If it helps, jp/p, I found it so fanf***ingtabulous because I made sure each bite had both the chocolate and vanilla ice cream in it. wink.gif

What I'm really waiting for is B&J's or Haagen Dazs to bust out w/ Vanilla Ice Cream with browine bites in it - that's it. The kind of brownie B&J's uses. The brownie is soft, soft!

I thought Troy was a B&J's Pistachio Pistachio freak or something? I know someone in the Orchard is...

A really simple, flavorful ice cream recipe:

1 liter of Cream Soda
1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk

Chill Cream Soda in refrigerator so it's nice and cold.

Add both ingredients to your ice cream maker.

Switch on.

Wait.

Enjoy!
HappyScout
Sounds tasty! Been thinking it would be cool to make some at home with the kids!

Vanilla is the best....when my poor frozen teeth can take it biggrin.gif

I'm a big fan of mint chocolate chip, though recently I've discovered this coffee almond fudge stuff. It's yuuuuummy.

Oh, and Michelle, if you go here - http://www.benjerry.com/our_products/flavor_graveyard/departed_flavors.cfm you can find out if your favorite Ben and Jerry's flavor has been retired. And you can fill out a "Resurrect your favorite flavor" form. They'll even email you if they do resurrect it. <grins>

has anyone tried Snowcream by mayfield yet ? i picked up 1/2 gal last night, haven't got into it yet.
rda76
stay away from the snowcream icecream. it has a very odd texture. if you love snowcream and have to try it, let it soften a little and mush it in the bowl and it helps the texture. but its way tooo sweet for my tastes.

We have only 1 Cold Stone Creamery here and it's about 40 minutes from my house. Fortunately, it's on the south side, where my favorite beach(es) are. Best way to top off a nice, lazy, hot day spent with sand between my toes..?

Cake Batter Ice Cream with brownie mix-in. So creamy, so good.

It's woof. Absolutely woof. I'd love to see it available in pints in the grocery store, not only so I wouldn't have to drive to another town to get it all the time but so that I could get a whole pint of it for the same price I pay for a small scoop.

II must admit that since my mom gave me my first bite of ice cream I have been addicted to the self. Living in Cincinnati has possibly allowed me to grow up eating some of the best ice cream around. Aglamesis began in 1909, some people love it, I think it is icy; I only have it 1-2 times a year. Aglamesis is more of a solid sort of ice cream rather than a creamy ice cream. They don't have a huge variety of ice cream flavors but my mom loves it. Also in the Cincinnati area is Graeter's they began in 1870, personally I think they are the best, I love black raspberry chip ice cream it is my very favorite. Actually their signature chip flavors are really good the chips are the biggest of any ice cream I have ever seen, really they are huge some are bigger than miniature size candy bars. If you want something without chocolate chips, the original flavors are very good my favorite is black cherry ooo and cookies and cream. If you go to their store you can get their signature sundaes, which are sinfully delicious, the WGUC is a huge treat for me. Aglamesis and Graeter's can be a bit pricey at times... So, to hold myself together between "fixes" I go to UDF or I buy UDF at Kroger’s. It is not a super premium ice cream but it is very inexpensive, UDFs are on almost every corner in Cincinnati, and it is the perfect mix between what I perceive as the iciness in Aglamises and the creaminess of Graeter’s. Additionally, I do enjoy soft serve ice cream on occasion in the summer, currently I live in Newton (a suburb of Cincinnati) and there is a soft serve ice cream shop that has been in business since 1930 and they have the best SSIC I have ever had. I also really enjoy Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia and Phish Food are my favorites. Cold Stone Creamery and Maggie Moo’s are delicious, in about a month I am moving and there is a CSC with in walking distance of my new house as well as a UDF and Dairy Cream so that will really be tempting. Anyway as you can see I really enjoy all types of ice cream and would have to say if I could only eat one flavor it would have to be Cookies and Cream.

Indian restaurants do the best Pistachio Ice Cream ... Pista Kulfi. Sounds dirty, tastes awesome!

Upon further review, I really, really, really love Graeter's Mint Chocolate Chip ... and, there's a little place called Cones on Bleeker Street in the Village back home ... they do a Zabayone flavored ice cream that make my nipples come right through my shirt.

And that's from EATING it, my friends.

LEMON SORBET

That looks sooooo good.

Did you know you can buy lemon sorbet in the lemon like that (-mint leaf) at Trader Joes?! Yummy and adorable!

And on occasion pineapple sherbert.

We made our first trip up to The Cone on Monday! Spring is really here!!
Unfortunately, it's a bit too early in the season for Elvis. There's just something really special about having icecream in front of a cone shaped building with an Elvis singing his little heart out to you!
Ah....the thrills of Ohio!

did i mention sorbet?

i did? ok!...all's well in the world.

In the intro to King of Queens, Kevin James' character turns and drops what appears to be an ice cream cone ... it's really an Italian Ice from the Lemon Ice King of Corona. About three minutes from Shea Stadium, they make Italian Ices out of real fruit ... there are chunks of fruit in the ice.

They do everything from Apple to Cherry to Cantaloupe ... all fantastic. They also do Almond, Pistachio, Licorice and my fave: Peanut Butter ... with peanut butter chips in it.

Damn I need to move back home.
Samantha
Sound delicious...and awefully familiar....

I'd love to try that stuff, especially "if we're ever in NY at the same time".

I can't believe one of my favorites isn't on that list! Black raspberry anyone? I also love pistachio, too. Heck I love them all smile.gif Moose tracks rocks, cookie dough makes me feel 8 years old again, and strawberries with real strawberries in it...yummmmy.

I work at a movie rental store where we also serve Gifford's ("famous homemade icecream"), and let me tell you the temptation is too much sometimes. I also had spicolo (?? cinimmon-ny goodness) when i was in france and it was heavenly.

I've always wanted to make homemade ice cream but never have. On the other hand, I have an ice cream scoop collection that I'm quite proud of goofycat.gif

oooh looky look! ::gets all excited:: I'm not a newb anymore!! ::parties::

ok, you can go back to the discussion at hand, now blush.gif

I chose strawberry, but I really only eat Breyers (preferred) or Hagen-Daaz mixed with 20% milk. I'll only choose a fruit flavor (strawberry, peach, or the like) with the exception being Vanilla Bean.

Of course my spouse is a huge Chocomut-head, so we have to have different bowls. Life is good anyway.

I'm an other.

There are times when I really want ice cream, but since I don't eat sugars, sweetners, etc. anymore, I just bypass that area of the store. However, I usually keep some kind of frozen berry on hand and with a little 2% milk, vanilla and frozen berries, I blend up my own sugarless sorbet. Yum!

Reading about all this ice creams makes me want to go have some. Lunch is still 3 1/2 hours away....hmmmm.
Favorite ice cream is vanilla, but if I am going to buy it in a cone then I always go with cookies and cream! Not to be mistaken with cookie dough which I can't stand.

I am a fan of Mint Chocolate Chip myself

I'm totally with you on the mint. It wasnt an option though. dry.gif
Myosotis
hm, mint sounds also great!

i chose the fudge option, i'm a huge fudge-fan, and a huge ice-creamfan, so the combination is twice as lovely!
Malachi Constant
mmm...your love really is better than ice cream...

mint chocolate chip, always and forever, meant to be, together before all, to the end, in the end, close of a long day, time she stopped, born into it, preserved and buried by it

not that i don't like other flavors
larry
Best ice cream I've ever had is buying a Ben and Jerrys cookbook, and making it fresh myself. I've made Cherry Garcia, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, and New Superfudge Chunk. Making it fresh puts what you buy in stores to shame.

There is a flavor I wish I could across once again. Years ago a local Haagen Dazs had a flavor called something like Cassis (don't know how it's spelled) that was made from, I believe, red currants. If you like tart stuff it was out of this world. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
BKLYNFRED
Funny, we just did Graeter's over here. Possibly the only thing of worth, culinarily speaking, found in Cincinnati. Well Bratwurst too, but definitely the ice cream. I'm a mint chocolate chip guy, for those scoring at home.

Lordy pete, Fred! You MUST be kidding! Graeter's MCC ain't got no MINT in it! Yeah, it's green and grossly creamy sweet, but there is far superior Mint Chocolate Chip to be had here. Go to Aglamesis git yur Mint Chocolate Chip and bask in the glorious majesty of it.
Seriously.

Me too! And, upon further review, I dig me the Graeter's version of Mint Chocolate Chip. You can trust me: I'm a research professional!
Debflinch
If there is a Graeter's Ice Cream near you, run to it this month because they will be selling Elena's Blueberry Pie Ice Cream it is delicious and part of the proceeds from the ice cream go to "The Cure Starts Now," an organization dedicated to raising money for pediatric brain cancer research.

ALSO! Graeters just opened a new store in Denver so if you are out that way you too can get some of that delicious yumminess.
