Curious about young Rhinelanders who don't remember actually using a turntable to play all your music.
If you feel like saying how old you are feel free...
My answer is the first one... and let's just say I remember well.

"I have no turntable but I intend to find and purchase one."
Actually I (we) have registered for one at Bed Bath and Beyond it is a reproduction Crosley.
I had a turntable up until I was about 16 years old.

Really? How much is it? I wouldn't mind getting a new one. I have an old one that is probably unfixable, and I won a bid for one on eBay, but I can't get the seller to respond to my emails requesting tracking for the (alleged) shipment!
Anyway...I'd love to have a new record player. I had one as long as I could remember up until around the time I graduated from high school in '91.

I just voted (in the last option) and let me say, I've been meaning to buy a turntable since purchasing Ohio last year, and have yet to do it.
Does anyone have any particular brands or models suitable for for a high fi component system? I've seen the usual cheapies at BestBuy made by Sony and Audio Technica, but I hesitate to plunk down around 100 jibbies for one of them!

I bought OHIO on vinyl, and listened to it with a glass of red wine. (ok, maybe two glasses.)

i don't have a turntable, as yet. i used my brother's for this occasion.

My parents gave me the turntable from the guest house after I got OHIO on vinyl. Got home, rearranged the entertainment center to my satisfaction, plugged everything in where it needed to go, put on album 1, side 1, lifted the needle... no spin. It doesn't spin. At all. I've yet to be in the mood to have it looked at and fixed if need be. So, OHIO is in it's plastic covering in the entertainment center on the shelves w/ the books next to Madonna's SEX book and most of the Vampire Chronicles in hardback.
I'll get to that record player thingy eventually.

I have subsequently bought Ohio, requested a turntable for Xmas, then bought about 70 other classic albums on vinyl...

I didn't buy the vinyl and actually got rid of my turntable during the move.....the stereo was just too big....

I would love to have Ohio on vinyl and a working turntable to play it on.
The only reason I've avoided getting a turntable for so long is that they now release albums in 180-gram vinyl and charge lots of money for them. If I had the ability to play said 180-gram copies of Kind Of Blue, Pet Sounds and Close To The Edge, I would not be attending college right now.

Turn Table!? I had 8-tracks! I did have until 1990 when it broke! I had a wonderful turntable only nice thing from my past marriage....I gave it to my young hip cousin,
he had DJ desires! Age it is a relative thing, I say this being close enough to spit at
and hit 41!

I have fond memories of listening to records when I was little. at one point my family had two record players, an old one and a new one. I'm not sure what happened to the old one and then the new one got left behind in a move. if I had the space I would look into getting one. maybe someday.
