Hey everyone,
I've recently discovered the martini. The fruit-flavored martini. mmmmm, Mango.
Just curious what everyone likes out there, with hopes to discover interesting drinks that I don't know about (or think I wouldn't like but actually would if I tried).

I am not sure if a flavored martini is still a martini? Most do not even contain Vermouth?
Just wonder about that; I like a cold beer on a hot day and a nice ale in the fall.

TO some purists, no it is not a true martini. But to me, the flavored things are what I live on. Ok, not really. But I do drink more of them than any other cocktail (of course this could be because they are only 3 dollars during the Brazen Bean's three hour long happy "hour."

great question!
i must say that i like just about all kinds of alcoholic drinks, though i'm not a huge fan of beer as of yet.
any suggestions?
while living in Ireland, i of course tried some stout, but, alas... too dark for my tastes.

It's tasty stuff. Best of the cider's out of the ones I have tried. The bottle cap made my refrigerator door of magnet fame.

Hey, if I can say I listen to silence, you can say you don't drink!
Thanks to everyone for the replies so far...keep 'em coming.
I was afraid the fruity martinis weren't "real" martinis. But I like them all the same. What's the definition of a "real" one then?
As for beer- people keep telling me I haven't tried enough kinds to like it, or, that I haven't lived in Europe and THAT would get me to like it. I think it's a scheme to just order more and more beers that I won't like but that my friends will then drink...hmm.

The are three perfect things on Earth, as I see it:
1) Sunny days with no clouds when the wind is blowing and it's cool enough to sleep outside.
2) A cup of hot coffee and a new book.
3) A vodka martini, *filthy* with olive juice and just a scare of dry vermouth. And three olives.

I'm not wild about most alcoholic beverages, especially beer. So I was surprised yesterday when I had a few sips of my friend's Guinness and kind of liked it.
I like a nice glass of wine sometimes, or an occasional rum and Coke over dinner with my mom. I really don't like getting tipsy, though, so I tend to drink only on a full stomach, taking one sip at a time.

I've picked up the unfortunate collegiate habit of indiscriminately binge-drinking hard liquor. This only comes into play at (drinking) parties, though, and I go to few enough of those, so I should have an adequate number of brain cells remaining as I enter my thirties.

normally, just wine with dinner occasionally. i've never been drunk or even close to. i recently had my first 'buzz' from a glass of pino grigio.
while in japan, i discovered Pomegranate wine. ohh, it's like heaven in a glass.
pineapple wine is pretty good as well.

I consider myself a non-drinker -- mainly 'cause I don't like how alcohol, even a tiny amount, makes me feel "the day after." If I could be guaranteed no hangover, whatsoever, I wouldn't mind having a Bloody Mary (with a Coca-Cola chaser) or a Kahlua 'n' cream.
Do those qualify as "cocktails"?
(I actually voted in the "None for me, thanks" category!)

Dandelion wine is bitter. Think chamomile tea with attitude and several months of fermentation. Quite good as you realise you're imbibing flowers for a buzz.

My current favorite is a shot of absolut mandarin in cran-grape, with crushed ice. Helps me un-wind after an evening at work.
As for beer, I really like Guinness the best, nice warm frothy Guinness.
I do not like to feel the affects of alcohol, so I normally drink in moderation.
Oh, when I am at the casino's, I like a dirty martini.

i've tried a number of alchoholic drinks (beer, merlot, chardonay, whiskey; lemon juice and honey, champagne, white russian, etc.) but the only thing i ever liked was a vodka spiked punch at a party i was at. I left soon after because everyone there had a LOT more than i did and started getting.... crazy. i liked it, but i wasn't sure how much i could handle, and had little desire to find out what kind of drunk i would be. i guess i simply don't like drinks that aren't sweet and smell and taste like they've gone bad.
count me as a non-drinker for the most part.

hm ... too many things to choose from for me to vote. right now we're on the margarita kick, a few weeks ago it was j lohr chardonnay and before that (for me) it was beer. next week will probably be wray and nephew's rum and coke. mmmm good stuff. i love summer time drinks ...

So, seeing that I went into a major depression streak yesterday, and had a really bad hangover on Saturday, I'm kind of thinking about never getting drunk again, or if I do, doing it for special ocasions only (best freind's bacholer party, 30th bdays, and the like).

Sounds like a good idea, Aaron. I make a point of not drinking when I'm feeling especially low after a most unfortunate experience last year. I'm now working on the not-getting-totally-plastered-every-time aspect of responsible drinking. If limiting drinks to special occasions is what will make responsible drinking easiest for you, I encourage you to go for it. You rock.

Bruce and CaliSteve bought me carrot cakes at the bar last night. Very very yummy.

when i'm feeling classy, you can't beat a nice glass of wine.
when i'm feeling a bit more honkey-tonk, i really enjoy j.d. (jack daniels) and 7-up. probably my #1 favorite.
when i'm feeling intellectual/artsy fartsy, vodka gimlet.
when i'm feeling spring-break-in-florida/party-esque, malibu with coke and lime, please. it's my britney spears of drinks.
there are others, but those are my tops. i don't have them often, but when the moment is right it can be such a nice treat...

I voted for cocktails, but I really like all kinds of drinking. So another list of favorites (for the time being that is):
cocktail: white russian, inspired of course by The Big Lebowski
liquor (straight up): 1800, chilled, no training wheels
beer: right now I'm really stuck on Red Stripe for some reason
mixed shot: Crown Hooter (oh so good)
white wine: any good pino grigio
red white: any merlot (it doesn't even have to be good) ahh, that's sad...
