I just got my copy and I plan to bring it to Denver for signatures.
You know, it really is getting ridiculous....I am serious when I say I'll be the old lady with the shopping cart.
Well, after I get it signed I know just what I am going to do with the lovely gatefold jacket.
Restoration Hardware (sorry for the plug) has in their catalog a really nice and unique frame, made specifically for record albums....to hang on the wall for very nice conversation objects of art. I already have two in which I have my original Beatles Album and original Bob Dylan Highway 61 revisited. I have some Simon and Garfunkel albums that I'd like to display as well. OHIO will look perfectly lovely in this frame on the wall of our entertainment room.
BTW...the frames are made especially deep so it accommodates the thickness of an album with the record inside. I'm certain there will be ample room for the double album.
I get to store my album in a safe place behind glass and display it as well. How great is that?

It is beautiful, isn't it? I'm still waiting for the record player I won on eBay to arrive, since my old record player from high school(!) is unfixable...

Random observation:

Last night, PBS reaired their Loreena McKennitt special and I was reminded of her adaptation of the following Yeats poem. I started thinking of it in terms of Ohio's album cover...

THE TWO TREES

Beloved, gaze in thine own heart,
The holy tree is growing there;
From joy the holy branches start,
And all the trembling flowers they bear.
The changing colours of its fruit
Have dowered the stars with merry light;
The surety of its hidden root
Has planted quiet in the night;
The shaking of its leafy head
Has given the waves their melody,
And made my lips and music wed,
Murmuring a wizard song for thee.
There the Loves a circle go,
The flaming circle of our days,
Gyring, spiring to and fro
In those great ignorant leafy ways;
Remembering all that shaken hair
And how the wingèd sandals dart,
Thine eyes grow full of tender care:
Beloved, gaze in thine own heart.

Gaze no more in the bitter glass
The demons, with their subtle guile,
Lift up before us when they pass,
Or only gaze a little while;
For there a fatal image grows
That the stormy night receives,
Roots half hidden under snows,
Broken boughs and blackened leaves.
For all things turn to barrenness
In the dim glass the demons hold,
The glass of outer weariness,
Made when God slept in times of old.
There, through the broken branches, go
The ravens of unresting thought;
Flying, crying, to and fro,
Cruel claw and hungry throat,
Or else they stand and sniff the wind,
And shake their ragged wings; alas!
Thy tender eyes grow all unkind:
Gaze no more in the bitter glass.

~ William Butler Yeats (1865-1939)

The gentle chiding and loving encouragement of one to the other reminds me of K&L's relationship...the long journey that continues. (Hometown Boy echoes this as well...)

ok, i'm relieved. i thought i wasn't going to be able to get the double record without forking over a lot of money to one of you guys. i just found the thing on pastemusic (ironically, it's linked from the otr main page, that was hard). anyway, i'm considering ordering it tomorrow night after i deposit my paycheck. buuuuuut, on the other hand, it might be for sale at Taft cheaper and i could get it autographed there as well. then again, i could just order it, and drag it with me to Taft. The risk of course, is that the album might come damaged in shipping.

i'm torn. any advice? has anyone had any problems with vinyl shipped through the mail?

fwiw, they usually do not do a "meet and greet" after the taft show. at least as i am aware, they never have. if ya'll are going to birdy's the night before, that would be your best bet.

kylie, since she is the "merch queen", could prolly tell you more about them selling the vinyl @ the merch booth...they charge the same for stuff at shows as paste but you do save on shipping.

I'll just echo what Bill said. I've never seen them come out after the show at Taft.
I'd get it at the show(just in case)... you save on shipping, you don't have to worry about it getting damaged, and perhaps they might have some deal going on where you can throw in a few more bucks and get a poster or something. You never know. Hope that helps.

thanks very much for the heads-up

i'm just going to order it online and wait until a more opportune concert to have it autographed. ah well.

I just got a copy for my birthday and I love it. Already now when I am listening to the CD in my car I think about it as four sides instead of two. One note - one of my favorite transitions from song to song on the CD is how the quiet ending of "Remind Us" is a perfect set up for the beginning of "How Long Have You Been Stoned." On the record this is where the record splits. Kind of a bummer. But relatively minor. I just love to spread out my album and try to get lost in it. Highly recommended.

I know I'm a bit late and probably SOL, but I thought I'd ask anyway, since I finally got around to getting a preamp for the turntable that's been sitting around my apartment for the last year. The only reason I put it off was out of the knowledge that as soon as that puppy worked, I'd be blowing all my money on vinyl, which is something I need to avoid. BUT....I do have this burning desire to listen to Ohio on vinyl, so is there anyone still selling it? I know it's a long shot but there might be some kind of "Amazon.com but for vinyl" type store online that I don't know about...thanks!

It doesn't look like there are any copies listed there at the moment, but you might keep checking at GEMM.
