OK, the original version is like this...

the verse really has only three chords: F9, Db major 7, and Eb. I'm not sure whether you're trying to do this on piano or guitar...but basically the F9 is an F chord with an added G (I took 4 semesters of music theory in college so I hope I don't confuse you...theory is for sucks).

The verse is these four chords: F, C/E (C major with E as the bass), Dm, and C.

So...verse: F9, Dbmaj7, Eb
Chorus: F, C/E, Dm, C

That's really the entire song, just play those chords and you'll figure out the timing...Linford's piano part is really just arpeggios of those chords. Hope that helps a little.

Greetings,
First post here, long time listener, first time post-er.

Would appreciate any help in figuring out chords for Changes Come.

I'm pretty sure there are more than 2 chords. smile.gif

I'm thinking standard guitar tuning, Dm, something, something, something, Am, ...

TIA,

Great, thanks for the replies.

Now, would it sound strange if I sang "I wanna make a baby" (crass) or "I hope we have a baby" instead of "I wanna have our baby"??? I happen to be a guy and "have our baby" just doesn't seem to fit... laugh.gif

Ok, on the Changes tab, I do not hear the Dm or Am at the end of the chorus, but I do hear an F.

Anywho, here is a chord tab for Hometown Boy

G Em C D (repeat)

Am Em G D Am Em G Bm Cm

standard tuning, no capo

On a music theory note, sometimes you'll hear a Dm or F chord interchanged (or Am or C) because the chords share most of the same notes.

For example, an F chord has three basic notes: F, A, C. An Am chord has A, C, E (the both share the A and C).

That's why you might hear a Dm or an F. Both would probably work. Sometimes what the bass player is playing changes the chords that are being played over it.

Uh...I'm a geek. I know it. Walrus started it! biggrin.gif

Okay, I had an epiphany after watching Karin play "Changes Come" during the Taft show. As with most OtR tunes, she capos on the fourth fret. This changes everything! Well, not everything. But it makes the dang thing easier to play. I've been meaning to post this for a while, but I kept forgetting:
