thanks for the photos bill! it was great to meet a neighbor, and the rest of the
crew. i added one more cd to my back-catalog, but still have lots to go.
i now own:

DP
Ohio
GDBD
TWHF
Darkest Night...
Linford's newest solo one
and a freshly autographed copy of besides

what should i pick up next?

terrific, if steamy, evening, and tomorrow night i've got tix to wilco with
my morning jacket opening. how could 3 of my favorite bands end up
on stage right here in town back to back? i'm in big-time heaven.

i also think i got my friend (who came with me at the last minute but had
never actually heard or heard of the band) turned on to otr. at least she
had fun, hopefully it'll stick.

Out of curiosity, how many people showed up to this soiree?

Hot and muggy or not, Karin looks amazing as always...great pics Bill.

it was hard to tell. since it was on a big lawn, with a hill and a walkway to either side. my best guess would be at least 2, 000+, maybe closer to 2,500+. a very nice, and under the circumstances, quiet, respectful, attentitive, appreciative crowd. smile.gif

K&L seemed really happy with the show and turnout afterwards, even though a bit drained.

Great pictures, bivester! I saw you walking around, but couldn't get to you to say hi. My friend (a new recruit...she loves OTR) and I were fortunate to find a spot down front on the right of the stage, and we didn't get there until a few minutes before it started. Overall it was a pleasant evening after it cooled down some. For a free concert, it was great!

things i liked about the show:

a concert outside, by the water
falling in love with new songs (*spark*)
re-falling in love with old songs (*my love is a fever*)
all the dogs running around
little kids dancing
karin's glittery skirt
a digital camera with a whole bunch of zoom

things i could have done without:

bugs!
stinky water
people who came to get out of the house and insisted on talking right next to me while i was trying to enjoy the music
the almost 3 hour drive to and back
the lack of parking due to the baseball game

clearly, the good outweighed the bad. i really wish that i had been able to go by myself, though. my fiance, in an effort to make things work between us, decided he wanted to go, to spend time with me, no matter what. he was miserable because he doesn't care a thing for otr, and i wasn't paying him any attention. *sigh* it was a long night.

i still had loads of fun, though. how many songs did i miss? they were starting *born* when i walked across the great big field...

sorry i missed everyone. i looked for kylie, but once the show was over, we needed to get home. work today will be interesting. lol

Wow. blink.gif That's awesome...that has to be one of their bigger shows, at least in recent years. Hopefully they found a few new fans last night.

Wow. Thanks all for the pix. Y'all look great as did the band. It sounds like you had a great time.
Bill thanks for the phone call. It keeps me connected to y'all and the band. It was so nice to hear the goings-on in the background.

The whole night was alot of fun even consdering the nasty humid hot weather...

i think they did steve. drew (not "The Drew ™", drew the merch guy) said he was steady during the show and business was brisk @ the merch table after the show, i think they sold a lot of music. i also heard several comments like stiv mentioned after the show too. i think it was very good exposure wise for them. plus they did a nice interview and played 3 songs in studio on wfpk prior to the show.

*stiv, i called trudes from soundcheck, not during the show.

actually it was due to bob dylan and willie nelson playing @ "slugger field"...the baseball team would never draw that many people.

That looked like about the funnnest, hangin' outinest night in a long time. I wish I could have packed the whole family and driven cross country to be there...but I have to teach summer school.

It's nice to have the chance to live vicariously through the rest of you though.
