Funny, that's how I feel about karaeoke or however you spell it. When an art is reduced to a home video game, well, y'might as well have the Michaelangelo Brothers game where they dive for coins and throw barrels at Donkey Kong.

It's all stupid.

There is a contestant this year who I've liked from the beginning, but it wasn't until last week that I realized she reminds me of Karin a little bit. (visually not vocally). Her name is Brooke White. Is anyone else watching this?

I just caught part of last night's episode. The guys I saw were pretty awful. The Australian guy was OK but mangled "Light My Fire." At least there's room for improvement.

I gotta say, i wasn't surprised or upset with the results of todays show!

I love Asia'h! Her voice is kinda raw (in a good way), and full of heart and passion and every time i hear her i can feel my facial expressions changing with the emotions of her song. She's in my final 5 pick. And the guy with the bright blue eyes and dreds...i like him too. smile.gif

Since the first season, I really haven't paid too much attention to Idol. I watch if I'm over at my sister's house (I don't own a TV), and then I usually only watch the audition rounds, because there's something irredeemably depraved in me that likes to watch others slowly die before millions of people. Seriously. Some of the crap has got to be staged.

Anywho...

I was watching last night, and I stopped about mid-way through for no other reason than wanting to reach through the screen and strangle Paula Abdul. With any job I've ever had--from bartender to insurance adjuster to Youth Pastor--there are a few certainties out there. One of those is that if I show up to work visibly drunk or stoned out of my mind, I will be fired. How does Paula still have a job? Seriously, what does she contribute to the show? She is not a talented singer, producer, or songwriter--so what is she doing on a show where vocal talent is supposed to be a large part of what leads to victory?

I guess in some way it's sad to see someone whose life has become so unbearable (being a millionaire celebrity whose job entails 1.) looking good and 2.) not a damn thing else is really, really tough) that they have to choke down a fistful of meds before they even get dressed. But ultimately, I don't care. I'd love to see FOX actually muster the testicular fortitude to fire an employee whose uselessness has now been compunded by her erratic, drug-induced behavior. There's got to be some other B-list Music Industry personality out there who can look good on camera and play the part of the "nice" judge. Someone get Debby Gibson on the phone. smile.gif

I don't really have a problem with Paula. Sure she's awful -- but sometimes awful can be pretty darned entertaining.

I was stunned that Danny Noriega was booted off. sad.gif That guy was sooooo entertaining.

My favorite guy is David Archuleta; girl, Brooke White (her Love is A Battlefield was awesome!).

I think last week's standout was David Cook -- he rocked some Lionel Richie!

And I am soooo sick of Amanda Overmeyer -- the "rock" chick. Ugh. Make it stop.

Can't wait to see what they all do with the Beatles songs next week!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Lennon/McCartney theme.

Chikezie blew me away! I didn't know he had it in him, but that was AWESOME.

I still want rock chick to go, but it wouldn't break my heart if country chick went instead.

It kinda did break my heart a little to see Archuleta mess up so badly, but I doubt that it'll have much of an effect on his chances. I'd be surprised if he doesn't bounce back. But man, was that awful.

Ditto on Chikezie. Holy cow! That was a surprise.

Rock chick had a GREAT performance, I thought... but she still needs to go.

Once again, David Cook was the song of the night for me on the guys' side. That kid has some mojo. He's a real rocker, without trying to be at all...

For the girls, does anybody here NOT agree that Carly Smithson (Irish girl) is the one to beat? WHAT a voice that woman has! That rendition of Come Together thumped and, uh, she ain't too hard on the eyes, either. ph34r.gif

Some brief snippits from my brain.

The dialogue between Simon and Ryan is downright uncomfortable at times. They need to stop.

Ryan should NEVER skip around on stage like that again. EVER. I don't care if they are short on content and he's hopped up on caffeine.

I wanted to hate Chickezie's performance, since I have never liked him (except in his original audition). I didn't. smile.gif

David Archuletta is over-rated because he's young and (apparently) cute--although I don't see it. He just seems dorky to me, and although he is a good singer, he is a cookie cutter mold of anyone who can sing well, but has not found their "voice" yet. I keep waiting for him to do something original... Anything... David?

Brook White is easily my favorite girl, with Carly coming a close second. They've both found their "voices" IMO. David Cook is my favorite guy with no close second. David has found his "voice" as well. I LOVE these three, and would buy each of their CDs right now if I could.

Having said that, Carly did not impress me much last night. Did not really like her dress either. (shrug)

I believe either Kristy will go home from the girls, and probably that stripper dude from the guys. Although, most of the performers seemed to struggle last night, so really any of bottom 7 or 8 are in danger IMO.

Brooke White is my favorite girl. I don't even really have a second place there. I used to one named Kady who always seemed to have a snotty annoyed look on her face (loved it!), but she got booted early. I'm not a fan of Carly at all really -- just something about her that annoys me.

David Cook is my favorite guy now that Noriega is gone. And I like Archuleta a lot, but I'm starting to get sick of seeing him lick his lips. Just stop please, k? Thx!

I'm fine with Hernanadez going - I'll be fine if I never hear him sing again. And I suspect the country chick won't be around long anyway.
