Lists I make:
shopping lists
'to do' lists
list of DVD's I have loaned out
list of vines I have signed up for with names of before and after me
list of things to remember before I go to _____. (fill in the blank)

I like lists. I can't count on my memory. One problem is remembering where I put the list.

Very rarely, I will make a list of "Things I Need" during a trip to the grocery or the super-big discount store that everyone but me seems to hate, espec. when there is something out of the weekly norm (i.e. oven cleaner ... OK, that's a lie, I NEVER clean my oven!) that I will otherwise surely forget.

I sometimes list "Songs I Want to Put on Mixes" for myself and others.

Pretty much, though, I am a non-listmaker. I haven't even managed to make a list of the phone numbers of the players on the tennis team I am captain of!!

I have a theory...
Now that I have been making lists for a while
...(BTW, my dad made lists all the time and as a teenager, I said that was something that was so silly....I will never do it...hah)....
I have become list dependant.
If I am lucky enough to remember the list when I go to the (say) grocery store...I get the stuff on the list and nothing else.
When I have forgotten my list, I get all goodies and no necessities.
I no longer use my brain.

Hi, all. I'm new here-- haven't even had a change to pick an avatar or anything. I'm going to try to get around to a full introduction in the 'member bios' section later this weekend, but in the meantime, I think some of you might enjoy taking a gander at To Do List Magazine: http://www.todolistmagazine.com/ if you're not familiar with it already. Be sure to check out the list of best hair salon names in America under the "Lists" section. I discovered this site through Utne Reader a year or two ago. These people are really, really into lists. tongue.gif

Well Hi, AA...
Welcome.
Reasons you should introduce your self in the member bios forum:
1) You get to tell us about yourself
2) We will get to know you.
3) It will get that annoying chore off your to do list.
4) you can officially begin your life as an apple.

Ah, lists... I *love* lists. I make lists constantly... even just to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of my day. Today's list - for the rest of the day anyway - looks something like this:

1) Dinner
2) Movie - 9/11?, Harry Potter? Spiderman 2? Or just a DVD?
3) Water the flowers.
4) Feed the gecko
5) Read/journal...
6) Maybe start downloading another show from sharingthegroove.org?
7) Check out all the new posts on the Orchard
8) Call that girl who wants to buy the hope chest...
9) Hang with Tony
10) Starbucks
11) Groceries - milk, cereal, bagels, bread
12) Pick up shoes from the shoe repair place
13) Buy more crickets for Amigo (the gecko)

I am also notorious for putting things on lists that I've already done, just so I can cross them off. For instance, numbers 9-13 above are already completed. But I put them there just so I can cross them off. Feels so good!

And no, I'm not a twin. But I have some! And they are my last kids... Does that mean something?? smile.gif

Matt

This is an AWESOME idea, one I'm adopting. Thanks. I make lists, but I'ma functional list-user, not an obsessive one. Just grocery and Life-Goals-I'd-Like-to-Reach-but-am-Actually-Listing-in Order-to-Ignore lists, I'm afraid.
